Chukat / Balak — “Regulation / Balak”
This week’s double portion continues Israel’s journey with both challenge and unexpected blessing. Here’s a simple overview:

📖 Torah — Numbers 19:1–25:9
Instructions are given for purification through the red heifer. Israel faces hardships, including the death of Miriam and Aaron, and moments of complaint. As they journey, King Balak hires Balaam to curse Israel, but instead, blessings are spoken. The portion concludes with Israel falling into sin with Moab.

📜 Haftarah — Micah 5:6–6:8
Micah recalls God’s faithfulness and calls for justice, mercy, and humility.

📕 B’rit HaChadasha — John 3:1–20
A conversation about spiritual understanding, renewal, and truth.

Korach — “Korach”

This week’s parashah highlights a pivotal moment as Israel approaches the Promised Land. Here’s a simple overview:

📖 Torah — Numbers 13:1–15:41
Twelve spies are sent to scout the land. Ten return with fear, while Joshua and Caleb encourage trust. The people respond with doubt, leading to consequences and delay in entering the land. Additional instructions are given regarding offerings and reminders, including the commandment of tzitzit.

📜 Haftarah — Joshua 2:1–24
Spies are sent into Jericho, and Rahab shelters them, showing courage and alignment with Israel.
