A few weeks ago, Prisoners of Christ had the privilege of welcoming a local businessman who had recently learned about our ministry and the work we are doing to help men successfully transition back into the community after incarceration. Joshua Davis, representing JanSan, a Jacksonville-based cleaning and industrial supply company, took time out of his schedule to personally visit our facility, meet with our leadership, and gain a firsthand understanding of our mission. After hearing the stories of transformation, learning about our history, and seeing the daily operations of Prisoners of Christ, Joshua and the team at JanSan were moved by the work taking place and felt led to partner with us in a meaningful and practical way.

In an incredible display of generosity, JanSan donated a large assortment of essential cleaning and facility supplies that are vital to maintaining a safe, healthy, and dignified living environment for the men in our program. Their gift included paper towels, bathroom tissue, sanitizers, air fresheners, antiseptic wipes, and other much-needed items that are used daily but are often overlooked when considering ministry needs. While these supplies may seem routine to many, they represent a significant operational expense for a residential program like ours. Every roll of paper towels, every container of disinfectant, and every sanitation item helps ensure that our men are living in a clean and structured environment that promotes accountability, responsibility, and respect.

What makes this gift especially meaningful is that it not only meets an immediate need, but it also frees up valuable financial resources that can now be redirected toward other critical areas of ministry—such as discipleship materials, life skills training, transportation needs, and continued support services for the men we serve. JanSan’s generosity demonstrates that partnership in ministry doesn’t always come in the form of financial contributions alone; sometimes it comes through practical support that strengthens the foundation of what we do every single day.

We are deeply grateful to Joshua Davis, JanSan, and their entire team for their kindness, generosity, and willingness to invest in the lives of men seeking a second chance. Their thoughtful gift reminds us that our community stands with us, believing in restoration, transformation, and hope. Thank you, JanSan, for helping make our ministry stronger and for playing a part in changing lives. Your generosity is truly making a difference.

Welcome Our Latest Resident

This month, Prisoners of Christ had the privilege of welcoming a new resident into our program. Lester recently completed a 15-year sentence and made the intentional decision to request placement in our program even before his release. His desire to join Prisoners of Christ reflects a sincere commitment to change, growth, and pursuing a new direction for his life. Lester has already expressed his willingness to learn, to receive guidance, and to take the necessary steps toward rebuilding his future—embracing the very purpose of our ministry: offering hope, structure, and a genuine second chance.

As Lester begins this important transition phase, we ask that you keep him in your prayers. The early days following release are often filled with both excitement and uncertainty, and your prayers play a vital role as we work together to support him spiritually, emotionally, and practically. Our goal is to walk alongside Lester, helping him discover how God’s grace can transform any life that is willing to surrender and grow.

We are also encouraged to share that Lester has already taken positive steps forward. He recently attended a local church service alongside his Resident Leader and has expressed his desire to remain connected and continue growing in his faith. Additionally, Lester has already found employment and is excited to move forward, using this initial job as stability while he looks for the better job we are sure he will find. These early decisions are meaningful indicators of his commitment to change and his openness to the new path ahead.

We are grateful to welcome Lester into the Prisoners of Christ family and look forward to seeing how God will work in his life. Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we help men like Lester pursue restoration, purpose, and lasting transformation.

Local Church Shares The Importance Of Prison Ministry Through Prisoners of Christ

Last Sunday, we were honored to participate in the mission focus time at Emmaus Church, where we had the opportunity to share how Prisoners of Christ continues to make a meaningful difference throughout our local community. It was a special time to highlight our mission of reuniting families, restoring lives, and reducing both victimization and recidivism, all while proclaiming the love, grace, and life-changing mercy found in Jesus Christ. Opportunities like this remind us that the work of restoration is not done alone, but through faithful partnerships with local churches, businesses, and individuals who share a heart for second chances.

We are especially grateful for individuals like Howard Tietjen and John Heinzel, who stood alongside us during the presentation, pictured with Jeff Witt. Their willingness to support and advocate for the ministry reflects the kind of local partnership that makes our work possible. These relationships are vital. They not only strengthen our ability to serve the men in our program, but they also demonstrate to our residents that the community is invested in their success and committed to their future.

Following the service, we had the privilege of connecting with many members of the congregation. These conversations were both encouraging and inspiring. Several individuals expressed interest in becoming mentors, offering their time and experience to walk alongside the men in our program. Others stepped forward to help with our Tuesday night meals, a simple yet meaningful way to show care, build relationships, and provide encouragement. Each of these connections represents another piece of the support system that helps men transition successfully back into society.

Local partnerships like these are essential to the mission of Prisoners of Christ. Churches, volunteers, mentors, donors, and community advocates all play a critical role in helping men rebuild their lives. When the community comes together, real transformation happens. Lives are changed, families are restored, and hope is renewed.

We are deeply thankful for the continued support and partnership of the Emmaus Church community. Their warmth, encouragement, and willingness to serve are a powerful reminder that lasting change happens when people come together with compassion and purpose. We look forward to seeing how these new relationships will grow and how God will continue to use faithful partnerships throughout our community to bring hope and restoration to the men we serve.

Pictured here is Andrew, one of the many men whose life is being changed through the ministry of Prisoners of Christ and the faithful support of friends like you. When Andrew entered our residential reentry program, he was ready for a fresh start. Through consistent guidance, biblical teaching, and practical life-skills training, he committed himself to the process and steadily worked toward meaningful change. After a little over a year, Andrew successfully completed every part of our curriculum and met all program benchmarks. It was a privilege to present him with his Certificate of Graduation, an important milestone that represents growth, perseverance, and the beginning of a renewed future.

During his time at Prisoners of Christ, Andrew gained more than knowledge, he developed structure, accountability, and a stronger spiritual foundation. These tools have helped prepare him for independent living and long-term success. Today, Andrew is doing well and prayerfully considering his next steps. He hopes to relocate to his own living space and continue the path he has been preparing for throughout his time with us.

Andrew’s story is a wonderful example of how Prisoners of Christ walks alongside each man, offering encouragement, mentorship, and Christ-centered direction. Because of your generosity, we are able to invest the time and care needed to help men build new lives marked by responsibility, faith, and purpose. Your partnership truly makes transformation possible.

Please continue to keep Andrew, and all the men we serve, in your prayers. God is using your support and the ministry of Prisoners of Christ to bring lasting change to lives every day.

Improvements Made Possible Through Donors

We are grateful to share that POC has recently been awarded a generous $3,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Jacksonville Foundation. This meaningful investment in our mission will allow us to upgrade all residential door locks to electronic keypad systems.

This improvement will provide both immediate and long-term benefits for our program. Electronic keypads will make access more convenient and secure for residents and staff, while also eliminating the need to replace or rekey locks when a client leaves the program unexpectedly. This will save valuable time and resources, allowing us to focus more fully on serving those in our care.

We are especially encouraged to see community organizations like Rotary recognizing the importance of programs like POC and choosing to support our work. Their partnership helps strengthen our ability to provide safe, efficient, and responsive services to those who need them most.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Rotary Club of Jacksonville Foundation for their generosity and commitment to making a difference in our community.

Blessings From Community Of Supporters

Prisoners of Christ is deeply blessed by a community of supporters who stand beside us in our mission to change lives, reunite families, lower crime rates, and share the Good News of Jesus. The work we do would not be possible without partners who believe in restoration and hope.

Last summer, we shared in our newsletter about the air conditioning repairs needed at the POC chapel and training site. At the time, the system had already required costly repairs, and we knew the unit was nearing the end of its lifespan. We asked for prayer as we considered how such a large expense might be addressed. God answered those prayers through the generosity and partnership of several incredible supporters.
One of our faithful partners, who also serves our insurance needs at Brown & Brown Insurance (bbrown.com), connected us with the Air Angels Foundation (airangels.net), a nonprofit that helps organizations like ours with air conditioning needs. Through their efforts, they located a local company willing to step in and serve in a remarkable way.

The team at Weather Engineers Incorporated (weatherengineers.com) not only volunteered to install the large commercial-grade unit at no cost, but they also helped secure the unit at cost. Because of their generosity and hard work, Prisoners of Christ was able to save more than $20,000.

We are profoundly grateful to Brown & Brown Insurance, Air Angels Foundation, and especially the dedicated leadership and staff of Weather Engineers Incorporated for their kindness, professionalism, and willingness to support the mission of Prisoners of Christ.
Our chapel and training space is used at least three times each week as men and women gather for discipleship, classes, mentorship, and encouragement. Having a reliable air conditioning system is not simply a convenience, it allows this space to remain a place of comfort, restoration, and renewal for everyone who walks through the doors.

From all of us at Prisoners of Christ, thank you for partnering with us and for helping create an environment where lives can continue to be transformed.

On March 5, 2026, POC President Jeff Witt had the opportunity to participate in the Spring 2026 Public Safety Symposium held at Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Kent Campus. The event brought together criminal justice and public safety students, first responders, educators, and community partners to discuss the future of public safety careers and the importance of collaboration across the justice system.

The symposium featured a roundtable panel titled “Public Safety Now & Next – Roles, Reform & Recruitment,” moderated by Dr. Ken Davis and Professor A. Glover.

Panelists represented several areas of the criminal justice system, including corrections, prosecution, education oversight, victim advocacy, and community-based reentry programs. Participants included Deputy Circuit Administrator Deon Frazier with the Florida Department of Corrections, David Farcas from the Office of Professional Standards with Duval County Public Schools, Ryan Backmann of Project Cold Case, and Octavius Holliday Jr. with the State Attorney’s Office Human Rights Section along with Mr. Witt.

During the discussion, Jeff shared the work we are doing through Prisoners of Christ to support individuals returning from incarceration. The talk shared about the challenges many formerly incarcerated men and women face when reentering society and the importance of mentorship, accountability, employment opportunities, and community support in helping people successfully rebuild their lives. Reentry support is not just about helping individuals, it also strengthens families and improves public safety for the entire community.

Recently, our ministry was deeply encouraged by a visit from one of our own, Jerod Powers, a former resident, house leader, and reentry director who returned to invest in the men currently walking the same road he once traveled. Jerod’s presence was more than a guest appearance; it was a living testimony of what transformation through Christ looks like when faith is paired with personal responsibility. For the men listening, his life served as tangible proof that change is possible beyond the prison gates.
Jerod spoke candidly and without pretense, making it clear from the outset that the turning point in his life was Jesus Christ, working through the structure, accountability, and biblical foundation of the Prisoners of Christ program. He did not sugarcoat the journey. Instead, he challenged the men to understand that successful reentry does not happen by accident or by excuses. Each man must choose to participate fully in his own transition, doing the hard work, embracing discipline, and owning both his decisions and their outcomes. No one else can do this work for them, and no one else can be blamed if they refuse to take it seriously.
Moments like these are invaluable to our program. When former participants return, they bring credibility, hope, and hard-earned wisdom that cannot be taught from a textbook. They remind our current residents that the principles they are learning, faith, integrity, accountability, and perseverance are not theoretical but life-altering when applied consistently.
To our donors and supporters, this is the fruit of your partnership. Your prayers, financial gifts, and ongoing encouragement make it possible for stories like Jerod’s to continue, and for those stories to be retold in ways that strengthen and challenge the next generation of men coming home. We are profoundly grateful not only for those who come back to give of themselves, but for you, who faithfully stand behind this work and help make lasting transformation possible.
