A CHURCH DIVIDED: My response to this posting from pastor Terry Jefferson.

I truly believe that the church is being manipulated and is under a spell. Our wounds, pains and hurts are being poked by so many social issues in the world today… both local and foreign and the worst of ourselves are being exposed.

Many of us Black Christians are still not healed from the racist things seen, heard or endured in our nation and it has clouded our response to such divisiveness as this. Remember in Covid how in the church many drew the lines of the vax versus the unvaxed and the unvaxed were treated less and looked down upon ?🤦‍♀️

Today we’re split along MAGA lines, being cast into the MAGA box though you only stand on the side of life because as they say, “you can’t be Christian and not MAGA!” So they burn you at the stake and tar and feather you innocently.

The world is in the church. Affecting, influencing, coercing… a far cry from us being told by our Lord to “go ye into the all the world.”

We the church of God are too easily spiritually castrated by the events of this world.

We are to call evil out not selectively by our skin colour but that evil is evil no matter who done it even if it’s a family member. The Bible says when sin abounds grace abounds more; the said grace that has been bestowed upon us, that saved us.

How can we win souls when we are letting our personal feelings and past shape our discernment?

When did we stop not hating the sin and started hating the sinner?

The world is divided along racial lines. The church should not be sectarian nor racist but we are becoming more polar than even the world.

A young life has been destroyed … not coming back …and another young life … is locked away … destroyed in another form!

Right now the Anthony and Metcalf families are wounded by this evil. There’s no winner in this… both families have suffered and are suffering loss. Both families are grieving … We shouldn’t add to anyone’s grief.

The world around us is being stoked into bloodlust… we the church shouldn’t help to offer up anymore of our young men upon this altar of blood.

We need to draw the brakes and stop agreeing with evil. We cannot agree with the world that peeing on and desecrating the young man’s Austin grave is ok.

We the church already should know better.

What is better?

Hoping and praying and believing that Austin’s last breath brought him into heaven and hoping and praying and believing God that Karmelo will not waste the many breaths he still has to fuel hell with hatred.

The church needs to be the church and offer the love of Christ in a degree to help not further tear the divide but to draw these 2 families together and shame that old devil.

What the devil meant for evil can be used for good.

Will we let God be God ?

Psalm 86:11-13 (KJV) 11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. 12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. 13 For great [is] thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

One thing is for sure: Blacks know how to come together.

We’ve seen that in:

Trayvon Martin 2012,
George Floyd 2020,
Karmelo Anthony 2026.

These movements triggered race hate, divided even the Black community they claimed to support, backed criminal perpetrators, and destroyed Black communities and businesses.

They shaped a harmful narrative about Blacks in our country and in our own communities—one we are seriously trying to rid ourselves of and change for the better.

Can we ever forget the 2020 Summer of Love, with its looting, rioting, and mayhem that left multiple cities—including Black communities and businesses—burning? Many have not recovered.

We lost more and gained nothing.

Imagine if Blacks took the log out of our own eyes and took a hard look at what we’ve tolerated for so long and given birth to in our youth.

It’s not Black power.

Imagine what would happen to the American Black community if Blacks chose to come together for good—not baited into wrath by “masters” who prefer we fight, curse, and act like animals to confirm the evil persona they profit from.

Imagine if Blacks saw the truth of our exploitation by other Blacks—rabid wolves among us preying on our slave past to keep us caged in our minds and emotions so they can stay relevant, fed, and needed.

Imagine if we chose to tell ourselves the truth.

That’s real power.

SBC 2026: 5 key resolutions passed

1. Assisted su***de

The sanctity of human life from conception until natural death. Assisted su***de “cannot be compassionate if we are accelerating and sealing someone’s eternal destiny in Hell if they are lost."

2. Antisemitism

Denounced the rise in antisemitic bigotry and violence since the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

3. Office of pastor/elder/overseer

The office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture and bans women serving as pastors, overseers and elders. Needs a second vote of approval next year to be officially enacted.

4. America's 250th anniversary

Highlights the nation’s founding and Baptist contributions to the principles of religious liberty.

“Baptist leaders such as Isaac Backus, John Leland, and others played a vital role in advocating for religious liberty, contributing to the development and eventual adoption of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees the free exercise of religion and prohibits the establishment of a state church,” the resolution states.

5. Political violence and other resolutions

💥 This one stuck hard because it shows the division still within the Lord’s church regarding the death of Charlie Kirk.

Denounced political violence and called for decent treatment of immigrants while also demanding proper enforcement of immigration law.

Proposed adding a section to specifically honor the memory of conservative Christian activist CHARLIE KIRK, who was assassinated on September 10, 2025.

The amendment FAILED because many believed the resolution should not name specific victims of extremism.
