This Sunday join us in the children's department as we explore the book of Matthew and discuss the scripture where Jesus walks on water. The wind howled and the waves rocked the disciples' small boat, forcing them to hold on tight as they peered into the darkness. Terrified, they initially mistook the figure approaching them for a ghost. However, a reassuring voice called out, 'Be brave! It's me. Don't be afraid.' Peter, being the bold one, requested, 'Lord, if it's really you, tell me to come to you on the water.' Jesus responded with a simple, 'Come.' With trembling hands and a heart full of faith, Peter stepped out of the boat and began walking towards Jesus. Yet, as the wind picked up and doubt crept in, he started to sink, crying out, 'Lord, save me!' Jesus immediately reached out and caught him, gently saying, 'You have little faith, why did you doubt?' As they returned to the boat together, the wind ceased, and calm ensued. The disciples were awestruck, worshiping Jesus and declaring, 'Truly, you are the Son of God.

This Sunday, join us in the Children’s department as we dive into The Cost of Being a Disciple located in Luke. Being a disciple of Jesus is like being on a special team where you have to be very dedicated. To be part of this team, you need to put God first, even before things you want or like. Jesus tells us that being His follower means sometimes giving up things we want and working hard to stick with it, even when it’s tough.

Imagine Jesus talking to a big crowd of people who are traveling with Him. He tells them that to follow Him, they need to love God more than anything else, even more than family or personal dreams. This doesn’t mean you stop loving your family; it just means your love for God should be the strongest.

To truly follow Jesus, you have to “carry your own cross.” This means facing challenges bravely and being ready for both the good and the bad things that happen when you live like He taught. It’s a big decision and not always easy, so you have to think carefully and be strong.

Jesus also talks about building a tower or getting ready for a battle to explain how important it is to be prepared. Just like a builder needs to make sure they have enough materials, and a king needs a plan for a battle, anyone who wants to follow Jesus must be fully ready to give their best and understand what’s involved.

In the end, being a disciple means living in a way that shows Jesus’ teachings through love, kindness, and helping others. It’s a lifelong adventure where you keep growing and getting closer to God every step of the way.
