📖 August Book Club Recap! 📖

After a two-month summer break, our book club was excited to gather again—and what a great way to return!

This month we read Theo of Golden by Allen Levi and held three meetings over two days.

We met in two very different places, both with special connections to the book:

☕️ A coffee shop reminded us of Theo's discovery of the pencil portraits that he purchased and gave to the people pictured.

🇧🇷 A Brazilian restaurant brought to mind the Portuguese dinner Theo prepared for Tony's birthday.

We had some wonderful discussions, and the ratings were overwhelmingly positive, with most readers giving the book 4 or 5 stars. A few gave it 3 stars—although some hadn't finished it quite yet! 😊

We're so glad to be back together and look forward to another great discussion next month!

What a great turnout for our Church Book Club last Thursday and Friday! A total of 28 members gathered to discuss Woman of God by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro. Reviews varied by table, but most ratings landed in the 3–4 range, which made for some fun and interesting conversations! 📖

To complement the book’s connection to Rome and Vatican City, we enjoyed meeting at Rosalia’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria. The food and fellowship were wonderful additions to our discussions. 🇮🇹🍕

We’ll be taking a summer break during June and July, but we’re excited to return in August to discuss Theo of Golden. Until then, happy summer reading!

We’ll also host a Focus Group session at 6:15pm in Room 852 centered on shaping our communal identity and dreaming about the future together. All are invited to attend and share their thoughts.

🍰 Don’t forget — this will be the final dessert fundraiser of the season, with proceeds supporting St. Johns ASSIST as they help unhoused high school seniors with graduation expenses.
