Life In Christ Tuesday Tidbit: Psalm 118

Psalm 118:24: This is the day the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad.” KJV.
Christians often quote this passage of scripture for various reasons. My question is why did the psalmist write it? Here is what I found.

1. Psalms 113-118 Jewish people celebrated “the Egypt Hallel”. Hallel is Hebrew for praise. As such the Egypt Halle includes Psalms 113-118

2. The reason for the Egyptian Hallel was to celebrate God’s freeing His people from bo***ge, His faithfulness to Israel and, His sovereignty over all nations.

3. The Jewish people sang these psalms at the feast of Passover (Pesach), Pentecost (Shavuot), and Tabernacles (Sukkot)

Here is the interesting part- the Jewish people sang Psalms 113-114 sang before the Passover meal before eating the lamb. They also sang Psalms 115-118 after the meal - a song of thanksgiving.
What is the significance of this passage to you and me when we cite Psalm 118: 23-24?
Shouldn't we ponder what it means? “This is the day” means a specific time God did something for us i.e., The day He saved you, healed you, delivered you from someone or something? Again, when we cite that passage in psalms shouldn't we understand why we do?

“The Egyptian Hallel” Hallel has the same root word for Hallelujah.
