You’ll want to spend more time working and cleaning in the kitchen with this fabulous kitchen island that’s for sale. My dutiful and talented business partner, DavidandCharlotte Burke made my vision for this cast-off frame come to amazing fruition. The existing frame was bought at a yard sale a while back. David knew I wanted this as a kitchen island, so he added the block of wood on top. (Interestingly enough- he’s had this wood for 40 years that he salvaged from a Jewish synagogue in Texas. He estimates it could be over 100 years old.)
Here’s the specs: it’s 50” long, 28” wide, 36” tall. It’s the perfect kitchen cabinet height. The butcher block top has been generously treated with tung oil, ensuring that not only is it kitchen friendly, it’ll be protected for years to come. The drawer fully extends, and measures 12”x16” inside.
And let’s not forget those amazing casters that allow you to move the island wherever you want it, plus provide a pop of color.

In a perfect homage to primitive style is this wooden-box-turned-coffee-table. Nothing says “Americana” style more than this. Partner to The Restored Attic, Mr. DavidandCharlotte Burke is the creator of this original piece that he discovered upside down in someone’s trash. The army green was already there- it just needed to be cleaned and sanded down. The table has been sealed to bring out the grain of the wood. Notice the rare corner joints. The trim, made of old barn wood, is 1” wide. The legs are recycled bedposts with felt tips to keep from scratching floors. Open and close the drawer with ease, thanks to European drawer glides. You can find this piece and more at our booth at the Carriage House Antiques Market and Cafe.
It measures: 31” wide, 17” long, 20” tall.

What started out as a discarded cabinet on a construction work sight has found new life as a kitchen island. Thanks to the discerning eye of my partner, David Burke, he discovered this and loaded it up on his truck. Thankfully, he didn’t stop there. After adding intricate wood details, he then went to a construction warehouse in Nashville and purchased the 75 lb., 2” thick slab of solid maple for the island’s top. Tung oil is what keeps the top polished. The island measures 32” tall and 48” wide, and can seat 3, possibly 4 people. The brand new base is made by Bertch, a maker of fine cabinetry. Each drawer is fashioned together with dove tail joints. There is plenty of storage inside for extra appliances, cookbooks, food or odds and ends. Beautiful iron brackets can be found supporting the butcher block overhang. Need to move it to mop? No problem! It comes with 3” casters you can lock down.
This would be beautiful in any kitchen.
Feel free to contact me concerning price.

These kinds of pictures are my favorite. Ones with no slight variation of the before and after. This right here is why I drag pieces home, questioning my sanity, yet all the while knowing there is beauty deep within. I am grateful for my partner, David Burke, who has the fine carpentry skills to recreate door panels and tops. Once he passed it off to me, I stained and polyurethaned. It’s now in the dining room of its new owner.

This was a piece I found at a yard sale for $10. I figured I might’ve overpaid on this one. Surprisingly, it has exceeded my wildest dreams, thanks to my co-laborer, the talented David Burke. He attached the top piece, a slab of 100 year old wood from a Jewish temple in Texas. This wine bar takes at least 2, if not 3 people to move it. In addition to the flawless bar top that has been oiled and buffed to perfection, it boasts a stainless steel wine rack and drawer that glides. This lovely distressed piece would be ideal as a kitchen island or simply a wine bar that guests will “oooh” and “aaah” over. Message me for dimensions and price.

You’re not going to believe this before and after. I acquired this asymmetrical table base from Art and Mystery Woodworks’ Christopher Deming. I knew this needed to be a table base. But to find the right wood.....that’s where my partner, the immensely talented David Burke came in. He took two cross sections of his backyard tree that was just recently chopped down, and joined them together with a metal brace. After soldering metal to fit in the cracks, he added a thick, clear coat of epoxy, to give it a sleek, high-end finish. This exquisite piece has it all. A metal base with a slab of nature affixed to the top. This table won’t be available for long. You know you want it for your living room. It’ll be a show stopper that has all your guests (once this quarantine ends) asking “where’d you get that table?!”

I needed gloves to remove this little gem from an Estate Sale a couple months ago. I thought it would be the perfect size as a coffee table. What would go better for a top on that table than wood? I love to see the juxtaposition of wood and metal. My cohort, David Burke, was the one who made the idea a reality. His carpentry genius made the herringbone pattern look like it’s always been this way. Contact me for information if you’d like this in your living space.
