How should the good news about Jesus shape the life of the local church? In our new sermon series, Truth and Life, we will see how the Apostle Paul answers that question in his letter to Titus. Listen to Dr. David Strain's sermon from this past Sunday or catch up on past sermons at fpcj.ms/resources (linked in our bio).

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions." (Psalm 51:1)

Just us this Sunday as we confess our sin to the only One who truly forgive our sin. Services: 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6 p.m. | 1390 N. State Street

Streamed Online: fpcj.ms/livestream

On Sunday evening this week we have the joy of partaking of the Lord’s Table together. Please begin prayerfully preparing your hearts and minds to receive the Lord’s Supper. Professionally prepared, gluten-free wafers will be available to pick up on the table on the south wall of the Greeting Courtyard.

Let us prepare to feast at the Lord’s Table by asking the Spirit of God to convict us of sin, to supply grace to truly repent, and to savor Christ more and more. As we partake the emblems of Christ’s suffering, let us remember that God confirms the benefits of His suffering: pardon, reconciliation, and eternal life through this covenant meal. Let us in turn reaffirm our covenant privileges and responsibilities to God as we anticipate His return.

There will be no Catechism Crew or Covenant Kids this Sunday night, June 7, during the evening worship service. We will take a break to allow our leaders to attend the evening worship and participate in the Lord's Supper with our congregation. This is also a great opportunity to allow your child to attend the service and observe this means of grace!

"I am not my own,
but belong—
body and soul,
in life and in death—
to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ."

Join us this Sunday as we confess that Christ is "our only comfort in life and death" (The Heidelberg Catechism, Question 1).

This Sunday begins our new sermon series, Truth and Life. How should the good news about Jesus shape the life of the local church? Answering that question is the focus of the third of the Pastoral Epistles, the letter to Titus. Like Timothy, who was sent to serve in Ephesus, Titus was a younger colleague and ministry partner of Paul, left on the island of Crete by the apostle to bring good order and spiritual health to the newly established congregations there. In this letter, Titus is being instructed, and we are being helped to see, that success in the mission of the church does not depend on the draw of big personalities or the organizational skills of administrative leaders. It is the gospel that must shape the church’s leaders, members, and mission, and from the gospel that faithfulness and fruitfulness flow. Far from a dusty policy manual or a niche training resource relevant only to leaders, the letter to Titus shows us that the vitality of the church depends entirely on the grace of God in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that is a lesson we must never tire of learning.

We are so glad to have the opportunity to commission the summer staff of Twin Lakes Camp this week in the 11 a.m. service. Join us as we pray that God would be glorified as they serve, care for, and shepherd hundreds of campers who will come to our camp this summer!

This summer at Midweek our series for adults is Make Good Shoes: Working Heartily in Every Walk of Life.

Why does Jesus have me where I am? How does my daily doing—at the home or in the office—fit into God’s project for eternity? We live in a world that believes that our work is a necessary evil, but the Bible actually teaches that our work is a necessary good! Come join us for Summer Midweek, as Zeb Henson and Charlie Wingard lead us in a study of WORK—both its gospel witness and its God-given worth.

On June 10, we will kick off our series with a panel discussion featuring our Senior Pastor, David Strain.

Make Midweek a part of your routine this summer. Find out more about our programs for all ages at fpcj.ms/midweek.
