The Logos of God

The Bible contains not only what God said but also what God was thinking. Prayer is a foundational element in the fight of faith because it is one of the primary places where you hear God. The sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6) is the Word of God — the Logos — and that Logos is more than written text. Logos carries the thought, intention, and life behind the words. The Word is a seed with life in it; when God’s word comes down, His thoughts come down (Isaiah 55).

Prayer is the place where you hear clearly. Prayer is a discipline in which you learn to be alone until you are no longer alone — until the Spirit takes up your priorities and begins to communicate. Without the Word of God, you cannot enter the fight of faith. Faith holds the central role in this battle, working alongside other spiritual virtues while carrying the fight forward and securing victory. The soul is destroyed by pursuing worldly gain that ends in a faithless fight. 1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV): Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Reading Scripture is not primarily for memorization but for insemination: to get the Word into your spirit. If you keep God’s Word within you, it will be with you and on your lips. The Holy Spirit will bring to remembrance what Jesus spoke. Believers must anchor their hearts through faith in Scripture, trusting that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, and commit themselves to Christ as the Lord of their salvation.

When you come to the Word, you are not coming to a book only; you are coming to the living, resurrected Jesus through the Spirit, who is the author of the book. The Spirit can reveal the authors’ intentions and the thoughts behind the text. The Holy Spirit taught me, as a young preacher, to ask Him to sow the Word into my spirit. I do not try to memorize Scripture; I keep reading and let the Spirit bring it up. When the Word is in your spirit, the heart of the Lord will be in your mouth at the right time. The victory itself rebounds entirely to grace rather than personal achievement; it is our faith in Jesus. Faith stands as the only requirement in our spiritual struggles. A person does not fall into sin until the shield of faith drops from their heart. Believers must remain vigilant against the devil while resisting steadfastly in faith, knowing their afflictions are shared by the broader Christian community.

What’s in You

Opening “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after…” (Philippians 3:12 KJV). Brothers and sisters, Paul gives us a picture of the Christian life that is honest, hopeful, and active. He refuses complacency and refuses despair. He lives between two realities: he is already apprehended by Christ, and he is still pressing on. Today I want to ask plainly: What’s in you? Is it the life of Christ, or something that looks like Christ but is not?

1. Claimed by Christ



Paul begins with a settled fact: he has been apprehended of Christ Jesus. That means our identity is not a project we must invent; it is a gift we have received. When Christ takes hold of a life, He changes its status. You are no longer defined by failure, fear, or the world’s labels. You are claimed. That claim is the foundation of every step of growth. If you doubt your standing, remember: Christ has already laid hold of you.

2. Christ Lives in You

Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.” This is not merely a moral improvement. It is an exchange of life. The old self is reckoned dead; the new life is Christ’s life lived in and through you by faith. So, when you examine your heart, look for evidence of that exchange: love where there was bitterness, humility where there was pride, courage where there was cowardice. The presence of Christ is practical—He changes how you speak, how you forgive, how you serve.

3. Abide and Bear Fruit

Jesus gives us the vine and branches: abide in Me, and I in you (John 15). A branch that is cut off cannot bear fruit. Fruit comes from connection, not from striving alone. Paul’s pressing on is not frantic self-effort; it is the branch leaning into the vine, drawing sap, and producing fruit. Abiding looks like daily dependence: time in Scripture, prayer that listens, obedience that trusts, community that confesses. Fruit is the visible proof that Christ’s life is at work—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Application for Today

Examine honestly. Ask, “What’s in me?” Not to condemn, but to name what needs Christ’s life.

Reaffirm your identity. Speak aloud: “Christ has apprehended me.” Let that truth reshape your choices.

Abide practically. Choose one simple habit this week that deepens connection to the Vine—read a chapter of Scripture each morning, pray for five minutes of listening, serve someone without being noticed.

Press on together. Growth happens in the community. Let someone ask you how you are abiding and ask them the same.

Closing Encouragement

Paul’s life shows us the balance we must keep: assurance and urgency. We are secure in Christ’s claim, and we are called to press on toward the fullness of that claim. The Spirit is not a one-time deposit; He is a present power. Let Him live through you today so others will see Jesus in you tomorrow.

Prayer Lord Jesus, thank You that You have apprehended us and that Your life dwells within. Forgive us for the times we have relied on our own strength. Teach us to abide in You, to draw life from the Vine, and to bear fruit that brings glory to Your name. Fill us with Your Spirit, renew our hearts, and help us press on toward the prize. In Your name we pray, Amen.

Psalm 145:13 (KJV) — Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

God has kept His promise. He has forgiven our sins and blessed us with peace, purpose, and security. Even when we fail, God remains connected to us. He has secured a place in heaven for those who stay aligned with His will. God is faithful and does what He says.

Because of His faithfulness, our response should be a daily commitment. We must live lives pleasing to God and adopt the heart of a servant to advance His kingdom. God has entrusted His kingdom to us to tend and help it grow. We become citizens of that kingdom by preaching, teaching, and sharing the gospel.

Each morning our posture should be: How can I serve God and the people I meet today? Our calling is to follow God’s will and plan for our lives. Committing to that plan is the logical response to His faithfulness. We can fully trust Jesus, for He promised that God will never forsake us. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever; He does not save us and then abandon us.

If you feel abandoned, remember we are the ones who waver, not God. His promises have not changed. He will provide for our every need when we trust His Word.

Psalm 37:23 (KJV) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord. This truth goes far beyond what we can imagine, and it does not mean we lose our freedom. God has a purpose for each of us: He has designed and fashioned us and placed us at a particular point in time and space because of the work He has for us to do. He positions us in specific places—church, workplace, school—because there is work for us to fulfill there.

Every person longs for purpose; we want our lives to mean something. When we truly follow God’s guidance, our life’s path will reflect that direction. Looking back, we should see a single, God-directed journey—one set of footprints showing His leading.

For followers of Jesus Christ, God promises faithfulness. He assures us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Yet some do not experience the blessings God offers because they do not engage in relationship with Him. God says, “I will help you whenever you call,” but if we never call—if we do not pray—we miss the benefits He promises to those who follow Him.

A follower of Jesus is committed to honoring Christ through worship, prayer, and obedience to God’s Word, guided by the Holy Spirit.

HAVE YOU SURRENDERED ALL TO JESUS?

2 Corinthians 5:15 (KJV) And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Be a blessing in some ease life and watch God's grace manifest itself in your life as you walk with him today. Jesus shed his Blood so that we may live a new life of righteousness. We are to do the will of God. For us to know God’s will, we must clean our hearts and minds and surrender to the Holy Spirit. Sinful habits can cloud our thinking and keep us from understanding the plan that God has for us. We must confess our sin and give it to Jesus and leave it there. We cannot be sin-conscious, always thinking about sin. Jesus took care of all sins on the cross. If we turn from them, God forgives us and cleanses us. But is we being stubborn and want it our way it builds a wall between you and God, and it prevent us from obeying God’s instruction. To truly surrender to God, we must lay down our desires and commit to following God’s will and plan saying yes God I surrender all to you. It takes courage to wait on God; our emotions may want to push us to act before hearing from God. Discerning God's plan requires preparation of our hearts, our minds, and our will to his. As we are waiting, we are to follow God's will bring a faithful servant of his Kingdom loving God with all your heart and loving you neighbor as ourselves.

Matthew 16:13–16 (KJV) When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” and He is asking you the same question today. Who do you say He is? Recognize the importance of knowing who Jesus is in your life—not just historically or theologically, but personally. A personal knowledge of Christ is the foundation of our Christian faith. It truly matters how you see Jesus in your life.

Have you taken Jesus out of the grave and allowed Him to live in your heart? The people of Jesus’ day had their own ideas about who He was, but Jesus engaged His disciples in a critical conversation about His true identity. And He is asking you the same question: “Whom do you say that I am?”

As Christians, it is essential that we share the true identity of Jesus Christ with others, especially in a world filled with many different views of God. Yet there is only one God, and through Jesus Christ we can have a personal relationship with Him. His love for us is revealed clearly in Scripture.

Check your view of Jesus against the standard of the Bible. If you do not know Him personally, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Christ to you so that you may come to know Him intimately. He promises to be with His children forever. It is an awesome blessing to know that we have a friend in Jesus—One who knows us completely, speaks to us through His Word, and offers unconditional love that never ends.

Get to know Jesus. He is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind, and our High Priest.

Our Father, our prayer today is to thank You for reminding us of who Christ is. As we interact with one another, please give us the words to say that will help others understand who You are and the love You have for them. Amen.

Introduction: A Kingdom Question

What are you doing for the Kingdom until Jesus Christ returns? Every believer must confront this question with honesty. We are living in a time when many claim Christianity, yet few demonstrate the life, discipline, and devotion that Christ requires. The Lord is soon to return, and the Church must be found faithful—not distracted, not divided, and certainly not playing church.

I. The Call to Authentic Christianity

It is past time for those who claim to be Christians to become true Christians. Too many pulpits have become places of entertainment rather than proclamation. Messages are filled with personal stories, jokes, and emotional fluff, while the Word of God is pushed aside. Some are more concerned about the food cooking in the kitchen than the souls sitting in the sanctuary.

When the Bible is neglected, Jesus is pushed out of His own church. Sin becomes softened, conviction becomes optional, and greed replaces godly leadership. But God has not called us to a comfortable Christianity—He has called us to a cross-bearing Christianity.

II. The Danger of False Teaching

False preachers refuse to submit to biblical authority. They preach opinions rather than Scripture, and the flock suffers as a result. The church is commanded to maintain a strong doctrinal defense—guarding the people of God against sin, deception, and spiritual corruption.

False doctrine is a deadly virus. It spreads quietly, weakens faith, and draws believers away from trusting Christ. When doctrine is compromised, holiness is compromised. When holiness is compromised, the witness of the church is compromised.

We must uphold sound doctrine so we can identify those who would lead believers astray. A church without truth is a church without power.

III. The Example of Jesus: Anointed for Purpose

Luke 3:22 reminds us that at Jesus’ baptism, “the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him.” This moment was not just symbolic—it was divine confirmation. The Father spoke, the Spirit descended, and the Son stood ready to begin His mission.

If Jesus Himself did not begin His ministry without the power of the Holy Spirit, how can we? Kingdom work requires Kingdom power. We cannot build the Kingdom in the flesh. We cannot serve Christ without the Spirit. We cannot stand against false doctrine without divine strength.

IV. The Time for Playing Church Is Over

The church must rise with urgency. Christ is returning, and He is looking for a people who are faithful, watchful, and working. Not sitting. Not pretending. Not playing.

It is time to:

Return to the uncompromised Word of God.

Stand firm in truth and love.

Reject false teaching

Live with Kingdom purpose.

Walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Serve Christ with sincerity and conviction.

The world does not need another entertaining church. The world needs a Spirit-filled, Scripture-rooted, Christ-Centered church.

Conclusion: Be the Church

Let us return to the Word of God. Let us stand firm in truth. Let's walk in love. Let us serve with purpose. The time for playing church is over—now is the time to be the Church.

If You’re Tired of Playing Church, It’s past time for those who claim to be Christians to become true Christians. I know that I’m tired of hearing the same old lies coming from the pulpit—messages that talk about everything except the Bible. Many cannot preach the Word of God because they’re too worried about the food cooking in the kitchen.
We hear too many self-made stories instead of the uncompromised Word of God. This pleases the listeners but pushes Jesus out of the church. Sin is softened because greed and personal enrichment have replaced godly conviction.
False preachers refuse to submit to biblical authority, which alone produces spiritual growth and godly love. The church is commanded to maintain a strong doctrinal defense—guarding the flock against sin and deceptive leaders.
Unchecked doctrines bring spiritual harm to the flock because false teaching is a deadly virus that attacks the body of Christ. The church must uphold sound doctrine so we can identify those who would draw believers away from trusting Christ and living a godly life.

Let us return to the uncompromised Word of God, standing firm in truth and love. The time for playing church is over—now is the time to be the Church.
