BLESSINGS!

I’m lieu of our upcoming Anniversary,I thought back over every musician that I’ve played with. Nobody has influenced my playing more than Luther Harris III. I forgot to mention from our days playing with Hotwire Band, something had happened and Luther took a leave from the band. Man, I think I was close to being heartbroken. This was my boy and he had to leave. And we were auditioning drummers but nobody could do what Luther had done in my eyes. I was probably ready to pay him out if my own pocket if had it to come back.

Fast forward to a night we played at the Rascals Lounge in Toulminville. Who comes in the door: Luther Harris. So we talked him into sitting in with us on a song. It had been a short while since we had played together but we had that chemistry and he still knew the breaks. When we started playing…man …he took us back to those days. I might’ve smiled the whole time playing the song. It was “Outstanding” by the Gap Band”. (Remember Luther? Lol) I was like “Man, that was like a magical moment. Well , somehow, he got freed back up and came back to the band. Man I was on “cloud nine”as they would say because we that “heartbeat” back and he pushed me to sound better just doing him. No offense to the other drummers that sat in with us during his absence… but it just didn’t feel right. I had to have my boy back. Lol
