Morning Meditation

But Jonah ran away to Tarshish to escape from the presence of the Lord [and his duty as His prophet]. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish [the most remote of the Phoenician trading cities]. So he paid the fare and went down into the ship to go with them to Tarshish away from the presence of the Lord. Jonah 1:3 AMP

Heavenly Father, we come today with all humility. We come today acknowledging your omniscience regarding our lives. Thank you for reminding us that you have a unique purpose for each of us-and that you give us a choice as to whether we fulfill that purpose or not. Forgive us Father, for the times we were like Jonah and went left when you told us to go right. Thank you Father, for reminding us that when we are disobedient we threaten the lives of everyone around us. We acknowledge that you desire for us to live a life of obedience. We admit that just like Jonah we sometimes try to hide from what we know we should do. Today, we declare and decree that we will not run away from what you told us. We declare that we will fulfill the purpose that you have for us. Thank you for reminding us that you love us so much that you will send opposition to encourage us to make better decisions. Thank you for the winds you send our way to push us back on track. Thank you for giving us purpose. Thank you for trusting us with the assignment.
