“God Is Huge, And We Know Very Little About Him”
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church
Jackson, Mississippi
Preacher: The Reverend Les Hegwood
On Trinity Sunday, this homily invites us to approach God with humility, wonder, and faith. The mystery of the Trinity cannot be neatly explained or reduced to certainty, but it reveals a God who is Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer—larger than our understanding and yet present in creation, community, and the movement of the Holy Spirit. Though “God is huge, and we know very little about Him,” what we do know is enough to join God’s work of love, reconciliation, justice, and mercy.
The Collect of the Day
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
