“Praise the Lord” … “Have a Blessed Day”
Good afternoon. Wednesday’s moment of meditation at midday comes from II Samuel 22:50, “Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.”
Beloved, it’s always a good thing for us to give God praise. Let’s make a conscious effort to lift Him up not just on Sunday, but every day, and not just in church, but everywhere!
Today’s verse is a part of David’s song of praise. God blessed David to win battle after battle after battle, and David vows to sing God’s praise even in the presence of the heathens or unbelievers.
Of course, directly witnessing to nonbelievers is effective but just letting them hear us speak and sing God’s praise can at times be just as effective. When Paul and Silas were in jail in Philippi, the other prisoners heard them singing praises to God, and the jailer heard them as well.
When God sent an earthquake to open the jailhouse doors, the jailer came running and pleading, “What must I do to be saved?” Believe it or not, you get people’s attention when they hear you say, “Praise the Lord,” or “Have a Blessed Day.” It generates some interest in you, and, for some, it creates more interest in God and salvation.
It has often been said, “You are the first Bible some people will ever read.” Make sure they’re reading a verse filled with praise, encouragement and empowerment when they read you!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!!
