We give you thanks and praise, O God of compassion, for
the heroic witness of Constance and her companions, who,
in a time of plague and pestilence, were steadfast in their
care for the sick and dying, and loved not their own lives,
even unto death: Inspire in us a like love and commitment
to those in need, following the example of our Savior Jesus
Christ; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayers for us all, on this Labor Day:
Almighty God, we give thanks for the labors to which you call us. Be present with your people where we work; grant to all people work that enhances human dignity, allows us to best utilize our abilities and calls us to be our best selves. Through the work of our hands, unite us with each other, so that we can serve our brothers and sisters, and your world. Give us pride in our work, a fair return for our labor, and joy in knowing that our work finds its source in you. We lift up to you all who need and long for employment, that they may know the fulfillment, satisfaction and reward of honest work. May those who have retired feel a sense of accomplishment and thanksgiving for their endeavors. In our working and in our resting, may we always give you praise. Amen.

A wonderful Sunday visitation today at Creator Episcopal Church, Clinton. We were joined by worshippers from St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Raymond, Mississippi! Welcome to the new confirmands and the newly received from both worshipping communities! Engaging Bible study preceded our worship, and an amazing lunch followed. So grateful to Rev. Bob Blanton, the Rev. Beth Palmer, the Rev. Deacon Josie Williams, and all of the people from both worshipping communities who made today such a joy! I'll be back in Clinton next Saturday - on the campus of Mississippi Christian University - as we unpack some history and commemorate the lives of those lost in the Clinton race massacre of 1875. (Thank you, David Rorick, for the group photos!)

Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

I arrived on the Coast on Saturday just in time to worship with St John's Episcopal Church, Pascagoula. So grateful to the Rev. Elizabeth Folk Graham, the Rev. Deacon Adele Ledford and the St. John's parish family for their warm welcome. After Saturday evening's worship, my toes were in the sand for a sunset walk in Ocean Springs (Yep...!). Sunday's visitation was at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Gulfport, with the Rev. Stephen Kidd, the Rev. Clelie Mccandless, the Rev. Deacon Vicki Miller and all of the St. Mark's parish family - as we commemorated the patronal feast of St. Mark. Welcome to the newly baptized, confirmed, received and reaffirming! (And many thanks to Shawn Leopard and the choir for allowing me to join in for the Offertory anthem...truly a gift for me!) A delicious lunch and gracious fellowship followed our worship! I'm truly grateful!
