"Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors,
and made their tiny wings." 🎶

"All Things Bright and Beautiful" (no. 147 in The United Methodist Hymnal) was written by Cecil Frances Alexander, an Irish writer, in 1848. It notes the work of God's creation in both the majestic--like "purple-headed mountains--and the minute--like an open flower. It invites in us an awareness of God's work around us.

🎵 "God gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well."

💭 Where are you noticing God's good works today?

How is the Trinity like a fire?

06/02/2026

Too often we treat the Trinity like a theological equation when Jesus speaks of it as communion, connection, and abiding love.

Sunday was Trinity Sunday, a day we reflect on one of the deepest mysteries of our faith: God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While the Trinity can be difficult to explain, Jesus reminds us that it is not merely a doctrine to understand but a relationship to experience.

In John’s Gospel Philip asks Jesus, “Show us the Father,” and Jesus responds by pointing him not to a new revelation but to the relationship he is already participating in: “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” Jesus teaches that knowing God is not about mastering information about God; it is about abiding in God. To know God is to dwell in Christ, to remain in his love, and to allow God to make a home within us.

One of the most memorable insights I’ve ever had about God came from a simple conversation with my children years ago. When asked who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are, they replied: “God the Father makes everything for everybody. Jesus comes to us and looks at us. The Holy Spirit wakes us up.” Out of the mouth of babes, indeed! Their words capture a profound truth! God does provide for us, Jesus sees us and loves us, and the Holy Spirit awakens us to God’s presence in our daily lives. The SAME God who created us, came to us in Christ, AND continues to move among us through the Spirit inviting us into an ever-deepening relationship of love and belonging.

In a world where so many people feel anxious, disconnected, and spiritually homeless, Jesus continues to offer the same invitation: “Abide in me.” The Trinity is the home our souls have been searching for all along. As we abide in Christ, we discover that God has already drawn near, already made a home with us, and is already at work shaping us into a people who reflect divine love to the world.

May we continue to dwell more deeply in God’s presence and extend that same grace, welcome, and belonging to one another.

Life Application Questions:

☑️ Where have you been searching for security, belonging, or “home” apart from God?
☑️ How have you experienced the Father providing, Jesus seeing, or the Holy Spirit awakening you recently?
☑️ What would it look like for you to more intentionally abide in God’s presence this week?

Abiding with you,

What a joy and blessing it was to celebrate the baptism of Rosie and Theo today.

We are so grateful to have shared this special occasion with them and their family as they took this important step in their journey of faith. It was a wonderful reminder of God's love, grace, and faithfulness, and of the privilege we have as a church family to walk alongside one another.

Please join us in praying for Rosie and Theo, that they may grow in faith, hope, and love, and always know the presence of God in their lives.

Sunday is Trinity Sunday. Did you know the WORD Trinity is not in the Bible BUT the PRESENCE and WORK of the triune God permeates scripture…and our lives. Sunday we will gather in the mystery and beauty of the Holy Trinity — Creator God, Christ, and Holy Spirit — one God revealed in perfect love and eternal communion. One in three, three in one.

Come and worship the God who creates us, redeems us, and sustains us. Come to encounter the love that binds heaven and earth together as we celebrate the mystery of faith that calls us into deeper relationship with God and one another as we unpack what the life and work of the Trinity means for us.

Whether you arrive full of joy, carrying burdens, or simply longing for peace, there is a place for you at Wells. On this Trinity Sunday, let us lift our hearts together in worship of the God who is beyond understanding and yet closer than our very breath. I hope to see you there!
