James 1:17 KJV
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

I would normally be sending a letter to our supporting churches right about now, but we have found ourselves preparing for surgery and an extended stay away from home.

Many things in Nicole's health have come to a pinnacle causing her to need a hysterectomy. The surgery is taking place in Cadillac, about three hours from our home near Jackson.

Following the surgery she will not be able to travel until the end of the month. And surgery is only a portion of the difficulty she faces with her epilepsy being very difficult to control right now.

We will be temporarily moving our family in with my parents for the rest of the month.

Today we have a snow storm on the way, and are preparing for that as well as everything else.

I will commute down for most Sunday services until the rest of the month. We continue to have many visitors. Thankfully, we have had a very mild winter up until this point.

Forgive us for not being able to get a support letter out at this time, and please forward this on or print it for your respective church.

We are continually grateful for your prayers.

Though very true about some sports, this photo is also true about many aspects of life. Many people are in a religion, a political party, or even a daily argument for no more reason than they wear a particular color on game day. "Let God be true, and all men liars"

Think about this the next time you go to church, vote, or engage in an argument "Am I on God's side?"

In most cases we are just a product of our environment or upbringing. Often we are either embracing it, or choosing to emulate the opposite of it. Whether it is sports or politics, I am affraid that many have said "Go my team!" for so long that they don't know how to switch teams even if it were advantageous. If fact the human psyche fights as hard against change in a similar fashion that the alcoholic fights sobriety.

Perhaps you find yourself on the right side of every issue. But do you ever entertain the possibility of just being wrong in your daily disagreements? Or is it just "Go team"

So you don't think the Gospel message is relevant or powerful? Consider this, the book of Acts is largely about a middle eastern Terrorist formerly named Saul.

Why have we stopped using our greatest tool?

We will be having a 3:00 Service only tomorrow. AM services will be cancelled to get the lot cleared out. Be safe and God Bless.

It is the time of year in which Taverns and Liquor stores hang out the banner to appeal to the hunters of our Land.

Not only do I want to remind you that these places cannot satisfy your soul, but I also want to remind you that this November 15 is the Lords Day.

Unfortunately, many so called Christians will show the true god of their heart this day by choosing something other than him.

Lord willing this Sunday we will study the following passage from Psalms.

Psalm 42:1 KJV
As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Today many seem to infer that our current Bible is not fully preserved by God. Others perhaps want to be considered experts of sorts. Our English KJV is accurate I believe. Most of the time there is no need to reference the Greek or Hebrew. If a need arises to quote from them, let it be only to elevate the English text, and not to destroy. Also many who do so have nothing more than a cheap concordance at their disposal. Their libraries as well as their minds are ill equipped to comment on such a matter.

I stumbled across this quote from the 1800s. Apparently this is not a new controversy:

The original Hebrew or Greek

(J. C. Philpot)

I cannot say that I am fond of alluding to the original
Hebrew or Greek of the Bible--or of finding fault with
the translation. Such 'petty criticism' is more often
employed to display one's own shallow knowledge, than
to edify the people of God. This has often had the evil
effect of unsettling the minds of Christ's people, and
of opening a door to the assaults of the enemy.

Daniel makes mention of the fact that the backsliding of Israel was further made worse because Israel had not prayed about it. Notice especially verse 13 in his prayer of confession for the nation.

Da 9:1 ¶ In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 ¶ And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.
8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.
14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

Constitution and the Bible: The Third Amendment

"No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.[5]"

This amendment is rarely spoken of in our day. It speaks of personal property rights, especially during war. I wanted to mention it because we are hearing word that Germany is seizing homes and commercial property to make room for refugees coming from Syria.

I also wanted to mention ways that this amendment is broken every single day. You may say "how? I have never had to do this?" Our government has gone income tax crazy. It has also gone spending crazy to the tune of 18 trillion dollars in Federal Debt. Because of Federal Waste, Federal pensions, entitlement handouts, and many other programs, the revenue the government used to collect for the purpose of national security and basic necessities no longer is able to provide these services. As a result, services are taken away or more taxes are levied. As more taxes are levied, it is as if a portion of your home is taken away.

It would be no different if the government back then had squandered the tax revenue which was supposed to house soldiers, so they forced you to do it against your will. How is that different than taking from you the revenue which you would have used for your own well being by force in each pay check to pay for war and extra programs which you did not desire?

Now switching to a Biblical focus. We do have a responsibility to help our fellowman and strangers. This was the original and most effective welfare. This way no one is forced to pay for those who are simply lazy, or to pay for medical procedures which they do not agree with.

Oh if we could get back to the Biblical form of welfare. But to do so, the government would have to end the over taxing of the average man.

Heb 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
