Camp Vatra The official page of CAMP VATRA, an Orthodox Christian Summer Religious Education experience Space is limited and costs are reasonable!

The Vatra Camp programs are an extension of the Church's sacred ministry to her young people. For nearly 70 years, the camps have given youth from across North America an opportunity to practice and learn their Faith, while spending recreational time with other young Orthodox Christians. Students gain both knowledge and necessary encouragement to build a strong spiritual life — a priceless benefit to them. A loving and qualified staff, balanced meals, sports, choir, trips, cultural activities and more all contribute to the time spent at our beloved Vatra. Make sure you experience this priceless opportunity!

Camp Vatra 2027 Announcement! 📣

We are so thankful for another wonderful year of Camp Vatra and have begun our initial planning of next year’s camping program. With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, we will be restructuring the program of Camp Vatra and piloting the program for the 2027 camping season.

Both Camp Vatra for Seniors and Camp Vatra for Juniors will be moving to one-week sessions. We believe this will provide greater flexibility and accessibility for our families while allowing us to continue offering a meaningful, spiritually enriching camping experience with committed, fully participating staff. We ask for your continued support as we prepare for these changes.

The dates for Camp Vatra 2027 are the following:

Senior Camp: Sunday, June 27th - Saturday, July 3rd

Junior Camp: Sunday July 11th - Saturday, July 17th

Digital Applications for campers and staff will open on March 1st, 2027 at 12:00pm EST.

May the Holy Mother of God pray for all of us, that we will be saved and that we will follow God as wholeheartedly as she did!

On Sunday, 26 July 2026 the camp attended Divine Liturgy at St. George Cathedral (Southfield, MI) where the parish hosted lunch for the campers and staff present. Afterward, the group spent the afternoon at a museum in Ann Arbor, and then returned to the Vatra where they enjoyed a pizza supper offered by Rev. Fr. Radu & Psa. Lucia Ciui of St. Nicholas Church in Troy, Michigan. Thank you to our gracious hosts and donors!
