A recent report from the American Cancer Society (ACS) reveals that cancer survival rates in the United States have reached “remarkable heights.” According to an article I read, this trend is a testament to the dedicated efforts in medical research, advancements in screening practices, and a significant reduction in to***co use.
The report highlights that today, 70% of individuals diagnosed with cancer are living for five years or more, a notable increase from just 49% in the mid-1970s. Three driving forces behind this positive change are: groundbreaking research, enhanced screening processes, and a long-term decline in smoking rates.
This report from the American Cancer Society is seemingly good news. However, I remember TV ads from when I was a child (some 65 years ago) asking for donations to the America Cancer Society. According to AI, it’s estimated that over $1 trillion to $2 trillion has been spent globally on cancer research just over the last several decades. Amazing! $2 trillion! Covid had a vaccine in less than 3 months (although I doubt its efficacy). AIDS had a cure in less than two years. Why hasn’t all this money and all this research given us a cure for cancer? Could it be because the United States alone spends over $200 billion to $250 billion each year on treatment?
If my suspicions are valid, what a cruel hoax the medical industry is playing on us. Imagine how horrendous it would be if the medical industry is withholding a cure because so much money is made on treatment.
I can think of another cruel hoax that we Christians may be playing on others. Have you trusted Christ as your Savior? He’s the only Cure for sin. Have you told someone else about the Cure? If not, you’re just as guilty as someone who has a cure for cancer who withholds that cure from others. Actually, you’d be worse. Cancer only kills the body. Sin kills the soul for eternity.
The Bottom Line is this: the psalmist said, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so” (Psalm 107:2). If you have been cured—tell others how they can be cured!
