When sending his disciples out to share the good news of God's love, Jesus acknowledged the task would not always be easy. But he offered hope in the warning: we are all valued in God's sight.

🎵 "Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore his sacred name."

"Lift high the cross" (number 159 in The United Methodist Hymnal) is one of the great processional hymns. During this season, it is often sung at annual conference services--uplifting the gatherings with the song's triumphal tune.

Lyrically, it inspires the church to meet the world with reassurances that God's grace and love are already present. Our job is to follow that love into the world.
