Some seasons just sucker punch us.

They knock the wind out of us and leave us wondering how we're supposed to keep moving forward.

My divorce was that season for me.

I remember feeling a loneliness I had never experienced before.

Even though my friends and family showed up, checked on me, and loved me well, there were still sleepless nights filled with tears.

I still cried alone in my car on the way to work.

I still walked into church feeling ashamed and broken, even though no one had placed that shame on me.

It would have been easy to look around and ask, "Where is everyone when I need them?"

But deep down, I knew the truth: no person can be present in every moment. Only God can do that.

And if life has taught me anything, it's this: I can only control me.

So I started texting people I knew were struggling, just to check in.

I invited people to lunch when I was secretly wishing someone would invite me.

I prayed with women at the altar when I desperately needed prayer myself.

And somewhere along the journey, God began healing me.

One moment at a time. One act of love at a time.

It's as if every time I reached for someone else's brokenness, God was restoring something broken in me.

I've learned that sometimes the path to the promise runs right through the pain.

And sometimes healing comes when we choose to lift someone else up while we're still learning how to stand ourselves.

“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬
