You cannot separate Love from the Gospel or Discipleship from Baptism
Telling people Jesus loves them is a good thing to do but as his representatives on earth we believe we need to SHOW people that Jesus loves them.
When Jesus was preaching to the 5000 he cared that they were hungry and he found a way to feed them.
When a sick person was brought before Jesus he cared for them.
Most importantly he was a teacher. It wasn’t enough to say you wanted to follow Jesus. Following Jesus ment that he would teach you and show you how to live.
This is the approach that we take when caring for the the inmates of Haïti.
We can’t preach the the gospel with out showing them the gospel! Often this done by caring for their physical needs.
Food
Water
Medicine
And most importantly by just being their friend!
Today we are experiencing tremendous revival in the prisons of Haïti. We baptized 86 inmates earlier this year and have many more that have signed up for baptism for the beginning part of 2026.
Baptism is only the beginning after that they enter into discipleship class where we teach them what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
In Mathew 28 we believe that verse 20 is just as important as verse 19. After baptism we have a responsibility to “Teach them to observe all things”
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
