The second and third groups of our pilgrims have safely arrived in Portugal! (flights were canceled and delayed, and the group split up on multiple flights after Thursday’s storms).
Today was a very beautiful day!
After picking up the second contingent from the airport, they departed from Lisbon for Santarem, the site of the great 14th century Eucharistic Miracle.
There, a woman who tried to steal a whole Sacred Host for nefarious purposes was converted back to the Faith when the Host began to bleed and light eliminated from it in the nighttime. The miracle was documented and preserved for future generations.
Scientific test ordered by Pope St. John Paul II in the 90s demonstrate that the blood cells are alive… after nearly 700 years! They also match the blood type of the Eucharistic Miracle at Lanciano in Italy and the famous Shroud of Turin.
It is a beautiful reminder to all of us to cherish the Lord’s Day and the Sunday Eucharist.
Father Dan celebrated Holy Mass in the Parish Church where the miracle took place and the pilgrims venerated the miracle in the monstrance.
After lunch the group made it its way to Nazaré to visit a beautiful Sanctuary on top of a cliff overlooking the Atlantic ocean… where there was a miraculous image of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
A festival in honor of the feast day of the image which is on Tuesday was taking place. After a stop at the beach to put their toes in the Atlantic Ocean, it was off to Fatima.
There, after dinner, some pilgrims participated in the rosary, candlelight procession!
They are carrying your petitions and prayer request with them!
