First Presbyterian Church of Irvington "Carrying on Christ’s mission: Teach, Feed, Heal."

2026: The Year to Equip the Saints (Ephesians 4:12-16) In 1948 it was renamed First Presbyterian Church.

Our Church was founded in 1896 as Manhattan Park Presbyterian Church and served as Church Home for German and Polish Immigrants in the then Village of Irvington. It’s now mostly immigrants of African descent and continues to serve the faith and service needs of the community. A new generation, but still carrying on the Mission and Ministry in the name of Jesus Christ.

“Our fight is not against people on earth. We are fighting against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness. We are fighting against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬

Samuel Afotey reminded us that we need to be aware of our true opponent, the devil. Don’t underestimate the spiritual reality because it shapes our physical reality in so many ways.

This week, remember that the true warfare isn’t with other people, but rather with principalities and powers in evil places.
