IN SERIES ON PHILIPPIANS -- Paul talks about the choice between remaining here on earth to serve others and encourage churches and going to be with Christ. He prefers the latter, but chooses the former out of love. Paul puts in perspective what it means to live and die as a Christian.

#2 IN SERIES ON PHILIPPIANS -- Paul gives thanks for the Philippians believers. While Paul had some bad things happen 10 years prior to this letter during his visit to Philippi, he now gives thanks for those things that have led to the establishment of a faithful church and missinoary partner.

I wrote a book for people who are in chronic pain or dealing with long-term illness or cancer, or who are just feeling persecuted or discouraged beyond all hope. Sometimes it feels like the pain will never end but pain is temporary while Jesus is the Savior who stays.

If you know someone that is ill or hurting, or who is a caretaker for someone like that, this 31-day devotional guide I wrote that is largely based on the book of Job could be a real help to them. It is a common misconception that the only reason illness comes into our lives is because of some sin in our life and if we would just get right with God the illness would go away. In the book of Job, three friends came to him with that exact theology and God did not like it. Then one guy by the name of Elihu came up with nine reasons that God permits suffering to come into our lives. If you don't know what those nine reasons are, this book would be a blessing to you.

I hope you'll buy a couple of copies and give one to someone you know that's hurting and I hope it helps them as much as writing it helped me.

Howdy, ya'll. I just published a book on suffering, written largely from personal experience, and taking insights from the book of Job. It is written as a 31-day devotional to give to someone who is suffering or somebody who has to care for a sufferer. Of course this would include people caring for people with cancer or long-term illnesses. Both the sufferer and the caretaker need great encouragement and this book is designed to do just that.

There is a poor theological understanding among many Christians that all suffering comes as chastisement as a result of our sins. Even though that's the first thing we think of, that somehow or other we deserve what we're getting. The person of Elihu in the Bible in the book of Job gives nine of the reasons that God permits suffering in our lives. If you've ever wondered what they are, please take the time to read this book.

If it's a blessing to you or an encouragement in any way, would you please leave me an honest review on Amazon because it might help that book get in the hands of somebody else who is hurting? It seems like the pain never stops.
