Pastor Robert Rohlin continues a study in the pastoral epistle Titus. Today's passage deals specifically with the qualifications of elders or pastors in the church. Paul left Titus in Crete to "put things in order" in a young church. Many churches today determine who their pastors and leaders will be based on their education or the letters that come after their name. But God cares much more about the character of a pastor, who is an undershepherd, serving under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Understanding this passage is of key importance when looking for a new church or when a church is seeking out a new pastor. It also reminds us that pastors that meet these qualifications are worthy of respect.
