While satan does come to steal, kill & destroy us, we need to read the Bible in context to ensure that it is not speaking to us first. When we miss Scripture in context, we can miss God and His plan to transform us. We could end up thinking the verse is revealing Satan's character, when it is in fact, revealing ours.

Reading the Bible in context, allows for transformation to happen because it will resonate and convict any parts of us that are contrary to God's will. Making a habit of understanding what the text is intended for, will cause us to mature in faith and get closer to becoming like God.

‭‭Matthew 6:7-8
[7] And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. [8] “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

God knows what you need before you ask Him and He reveals it by His Spirit when you read His Word. Knowing God's Word is key in growing your prayer life!

In prayer, you learn to work out your faith by tarrying in the presence of God and engaging God to establish His will in the earth. We are able to give God what we thought should be done in exchange for His way. God also allows us to tarry in Him because this is how we learn to execute the authority and rights He has given us freely. It is in this tarrying that we learn great values like wisdom, patience and submission. He wants us to use our free will and faith to learn rulership in the earth with His guidance.

This is why prayer is so key! Don't miss out on an opportunity to engage God today. He wants to hear from you, guide you and most importantly, He wants you to hear Him.

If you're feeling stuck today in your prayer life, let us know in the comments and we will reach out to you with a few resources to help you grow stronger in your faith.

Part of being built up in our faith is by reading the Word of God as it presents itself and not what we want it to present. Whenever we take verses out of context, they lose their original meaning and rarely do they hold up when our faith is tested. The true Word of God stands the test of time and circumstances- it never loses its power.

A tell-tale sign you've been holding on to a verse out of context is when you end up "feeling cheated" after believing in it. There are many factors that lead to this feeling but this is definitely one of the main ones.

We have been learning about going back to the ancient pathways as God instructed Jeremiah about the people of Israel and it is time to walk it out:

‭‭‭‭Jeremiah 6:16 NKJV‬‬
[16] Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Reading Scripture in context means receiving revelation of the persona of God as He truly is and not what we think or feel He should be.
