New year, means new books from 📚 We’re launching off the year with “Reframing Foster Care” by Jason Johnson.
“The author takes you on a journey through his personal experience with fostering. Bringing a child into your home is beautiful because it pushes you to care, protect, and provide with an intimate love that had only been known to your immediate family. At the same time, however, the ministry is hard because you’re bringing a child from a place of brokenness so that the fear, uncertainty, doubt, and frustration surrounding the child will overflow into your home. But both the beauty and the hardships of foster-care are powerful reflections of the Gospel. Jesus adopted us into His family when we were children of wrath and He accepted us with all our baggage, including our sin, by absorbing it all on the cross. The beauty of the Gospel is displayed through the pain. So may we strive to learn the love of Christ - a love that bears all things, endures all things, and hopes all things even if it comes at the expense of our comforts and securities. Even for those of us who may not plan to foster a child, I highly encourage you to still become familiar with the world of foster-care so that you might be able to come alongside those within our church who choose to minister in this way.”
