St. Paul American Coptic Orthodox Church St. Paul American Coptic Orthodox Church, OC. Diocese of Los Angeles & Hawaii.

18802 Bardeen Ave, Irvine, CA 92612 The mission of St.

Paul American Coptic Orthodox Church in Orange County, CA
is “to be an open multi-cultured community where people of all ethnic
backgrounds who join our Church can feel welcome and at home.”
The mission of St Paul Church is rooted in the Living Tradition of our
Holy Orthodox Church. The Holy Orthodox Church is the Body of Christ
and all Her members are a new creation in Christ, as St Paul wro

te to the
Colossians “and have put on the new man who is renewed in Knowledge
according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek
nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free,
but Christ is all and in all” (Col. 3:10-11). The Holy Orthodox Church is the
Household of God and all Her members are equal fellow citizens as St. Paul
wrote to the Ephesians, “Now,therefore, you are no longer strangers and
foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the Household
of God” (Eph. 2:19).

Luke 5:4-5 (NKJV):

When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”

A monk of Shiheet was found guilty of a great sin. So the brothers gathered to place judgement on him. When the wise monk Moses didn’t show, the Abbot sought him out, and said you have to go.

Moses got up, and filled a bag with sand, he poked a hole into it, to help them understand.

He walked to where his brothers are, the sand behind him trailed. They wondered why he’d do such a thing, so Moses then explained: “My sins are like this bag of sand, they fall and trail behind, so as I come to judge this man, to my own sins I am blind.”

St. Isaac the Syrian teaches:
“Silence is the mystery of the age to come, but words are the tools of this world.”
In silence, we don’t lose our voice, we find His.

Let us not disrupt the prayer of others. Let us not treat the house of God like any other room. In the stillness, we hear. In the reverence, we grow. And in the silence, we worship.

This is not a call to be quiet.
It’s a call to be present.

What time is it? Time to tune in to heaven.
As you come to church next week, remember …
this is sacred space, where every quiet moment makes room for God to speak.

In every Divine Liturgy, heaven meets earth.
The Church becomes the upper room, the altar becomes Golgotha, and Christ offers Himself for the life of the world.

To speak casually during this sacred time is to miss the very mystery unfolding before us.

Abba Arsenius once said:
“I have often regretted speaking, but never regretted being silent.”

Silence in church is not absence. It is reverence.
It allows our souls to listen, to repent, to worship.

Let us keep the silence holy.
Let us remember where we are and Who is among us.
