Zechariah 1: 16-21

16 “Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I will return to Jerusalem with mercy, and there my house will be rebuilt. And the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem,’ declares the Lord Almighty. 17 “Proclaim further: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘My towns will again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.’”

In this passage, God shows Zechariah that even when His people seem small and forgotten, He still sees them and has a plan for their restoration. The myrtle trees in the ravine represent God’s people living in low and humble places, yet under His watchful care. Though the nations around them seem secure and powerful, God reminds Zechariah that His mercy will return, His temple will be rebuilt, and His blessings will overflow once again.
This vision reminds me that God’s silence does not mean His absence. Even in times when the world seems calm but my heart feels unsettled, He is still working quietly to bring restoration. God’s anger is temporary, but His mercy endures. What feels broken today is not the end — He has already prepared His “craftsmen” to rebuild, restore, and defend.
