A senior dedicated to raising awareness of human rights struggles and the plight of refugees around the world has been awarded the 2012-13 UC Irvine XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship, established in 2004 to recognize students committed to ethical leadership, peace and positive global relations.

Please join us for the breaking of the fast in the evening, which begins at 7PM in Pacific Ballroom D. However, please arrive at 6:30 PM to sign in and to receive a Leap of Faith t-shirt if you haven't already received one for participating in the Day of Service!

At the dinner, you will be able to listen to spoken word performances by fellow UCI students, as well as to learn about how people of different faith traditions fast. Also, you will be able to collectively discuss and reflect upon your experiences from the Day of Fasting as well as from the previous Leap of Faith events, and about how you can use these experiences to further carry out change on campus and in your community to help fight hunger and poverty.

Thanks to all those who attended the Leap of Faith UCI Day of Service! This past Saturday was amazing! Encouraging words by Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, 41 hygiene kits packed at Share Ourselves Clinic, food packages sent by Islamic Center of Irvine and New Horizon Elementary School to UPLIFT Charity, feeding the homeless at the OC Catholic Worker Isaiah House. And of course, over 200 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made at Center for Living Peace and sent to Anaheim! Thanks everyone for taking the Leap of Faith and for your service to the community!

Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to our Leap of Faith Donation Bins around campus! We are so excited for the Day of Service this Saturday April 28. We are still collecting donations until 12:00pm (noon) tomorrow (April 27) at the Cross-Cultural Center. Don't forget to add your donations!
