Welcome home Elder Ryan Kesler! Ryan recently returned from the Japan Fukuoka Mission where he served faithfully as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He shared the following thoughts about his mission service:

“Having the opportunity to serve a mission was the greatest blessing of my life. I’ve learned so many life lessons and gained so much experience just in the last 2 years. It was never easy and definitely wasn’t always fun. However it changed my life. It helped me realize the importance of our savior and how having the knowledge of the Gospel is the greatest blessing we have in this life. I’m so grateful for my mission and I’m so grateful for the testimony that I gained. But most of all I’m grateful for my savior Jesus Christ.”

Please join the Northwood Ward (5353 Bryan Avenue) on Sunday, June 13th at 12:30pm to hear Ryan report on his mission and share his testimony of Jesus Christ. Everyone is welcome!

"I have found joy in connecting with fellow Saints through the shared language of sacred music. And especially through the simple songs of Primary, the Holy Spirit has transcended language barriers and filled my heart with His whispering. In children’s voices, the love of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, has been proclaimed in clear, piercing truth."
Sister Tracy Y. Browning - October 2025 General Conference

On June 24-25, The Tabernacle at Temple Square will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It will be 100 years since they debuted there. "Because Jesus Christ knows all about best days and worst days: suffering so great that an angel was sent to strengthen Him, the betrayal of a good friend, the cross on Calvary. But His story also has a garden, a stone rolled away, and an empty tomb. Because of Him, no matter how bad things are right now, your best days are ahead."
Sister President Emily Belle Freeman - General Conference April 2026

Using the For The Strength of Youth pamphlet can be a source of inspiration and guidance, no matter your age.

"Like Enoch, many of our youth today are choosing to abide with Jesus Christ. They are choosing to keep Him in their lives. They are walking with Him. They are gathering in record numbers to temples throughout the world. They wake before sunrise to participate in seminary. More are serving missions, resulting in more of God’s children being baptized than ever before. Today’s rising generation has been gifted with talents to gather and attributes of empathy and understanding. More are committed to becoming lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ."
Brother David J. Wunderli - General Conference April 2026

Our youth have an opportunity to participate in FSY each summer. At FSY, they will have the chance to meet new friends, grow their testimony, and come closer to Jesus Christ. Reach out to your local ward leaders for more information on FSY.

The Northwood Ward is excited to welcome home Elder Christian Thorpe from the Tirana Albania Mission in North Macedonia! (He also served in the Orem Utah Mission, while awaiting his visa.). Elder Thorpe has been serving faithfully as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the past two years. He shared the following thoughts about his mission:

"Serving a mission has been an incredible blessing; I’m so grateful for all that I learned, saw, and experienced! Serving in Macedonia and Utah I was able to witness so many amazing members of the church sacrifice so much to help share the light of Jesus Christ’s gospel. I learned how dedication and hard work can bring miracles forth! I know Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of the world and that all people can find hope through Him!"

Elder Thorpe will be speaking in the Northwood Ward on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 1230PM (5353 Bryan Avenue, Irvine, CA). Everyone is welcome.

Recently, as part of our global efforts to share the glad tidings of the gospel of Jesus Christ and increase awareness and understanding of the Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints published a new video, “What It’s Like Inside the Missionary Training Center”.
As President Nelson said in 2024, "My dear brothers and sisters, do you see what is happening right before our eyes? I pray that we will not miss the majesty of this moment! The Lord is indeed hastening His work.”

Have you ever wondered what family history and temples have in common?

In the Bible, the Lord promised that Elijah would come to “turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers” (Malachi 4:5-6). We believe Elijah did come and restored priesthood keys that make it possible to bind families eternally.

You may wonder how does this connect to the Temple? When we do family history work, most of it is done inside the temple. Members go to the temple to perform ordinances for those who died without the opportunity. So, when we do family history, we’re not just building a tree – we’re finding, honoring, and helping family members grow closer to our Heavenly Father. That’s why family history and the temple go together. It’s all part of God’s work to unite families for eternity!

Please drop by the Yorba Linda California temple open house between now and May 23 (excluding Sundays) to see the beauty that abounds inside and out of this temple and learn more about how you can have your family live with you for all of eternity. (If you come between 12-5 pm on a weekday, you do not need a reservation.)
