Founded November 1898, the first church was located behind the home of Mr. George Foster across the railroad tracks in Iron Station, North Carolina. The first Mount Vernon Church was tragically destroyed by fire but because of the love for their church the saints rebuilt what is now the second Mount Vernon Baptist church along with the help of Mr. The church has been served by many great men such

as:

Rev. Cornelius Gingles for 30 years. He was also an educator of the Rosenwald School which is now Mount Vernon's fellowship hall, following the late Dr. Gingles were:

Mount Vernon is 124 years old and still going strong. We have come this far by faith leaning on the Lord, trusting in His holy words. He hasn't failed us yet. Can't turn around now because we've come this far by FAITH!!!!
