This Week at Calvary Chapel: Authority For God's Purpose
Guest speaker Chris walked us through Scripture from Genesis to the New Testament and reminded us that all authority originates with God. Spiritual authority is not about control or personal gain... it is a gift God has given to help His people grow, mature, and fulfill His mission.
We learned that:
God's authority begins with creation. Because He is Creator, all authority ultimately belongs to Him.
Spiritual authority exists to accomplish God's purposes, not man's ambitions. When authority is used according to God's design, it brings growth, protection, discipleship, and unity.
Jesus restored what sin had broken. Through His death and resurrection, we are brought back into relationship with God and invited into His mission.
God has given pastors, teachers, evangelists, and other spiritual leaders to equip believers, build up the Church, and help us grow toward maturity in Christ.
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,”
Ephesians 4:11
This message calls us to run wholeheartedly after Jesus, embrace the gift of godly leadership, and pursue God's purpose together as one body in Christ.
