This is Andrew Wilson “Wilce” Crocker 1836-1899 who is buried at Abbott, but does not have a headstone. It was first reported he was buried at Clayton’s Creek. Later a newspaper article reported he was actually buried at Abbott. Does anyone have info on his death or info indicating where he’s buried in the cemetery? What’s ironic about this photo is my dad, his great grandson, looks just like him.

The annual cemetery meeting will be held on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, from 10:30-11:00 AM, at Abbott Cemetery. If you are unable to attend please consider sending money to Shirley (address in photo) to help cover mowing and maintenance costs. Every little bit helps. It’s important we keep the cemetery mowed. If you’ve been there you know it’s a beautiful, peaceful place. A big thank you to Shirley and family for their work maintaining this special place.

We are happy to announce that we have resumed our normal operatiing hours. We are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

A couple of things to note. First, the museum will close from approximately 11:55 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 24. 2024 so that our volunteer working that day can attend the historical soceity' annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. Second, our restrooms are still closed and will remain closed until the the problem with our sewer line is fixed.

We apologize for any inconvenience that our being closed has caused.

Happy New Year 2024!

My resolution this year is to do more genealogy research and organize what I already have. My aunt taught me to organize info, by family, in binders. Of course families overlap a little. Inside I use acid free sheet covers and paper/markers. On old photos I use only a small dot of acid free adhesive so the original writing on the back isn’t damaged. This has worked well for many different types of things. How do you organize your family history?

Hello everyone. Just stopped by to say hello. The holidays stir up memories of those we’ve loved and call family. The memories are wonderful, but they make us miss them very much. Wishing you good memories of bygone Christmases and new memories with new generations. Keep creating those memories! Merry Christmas 🎄

The yearly Abbott Cemetery meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 10th between 10:30-11:00 AM, at the cemetery. If the weather is bad the meeting may be rescheduled. I will try to let you know if that happens. If you can’t attend, but would like to make a donation, please send it to:

Donations are used solely to keep the cemetery mowed and nice. On a typical year mowing costs are just barely met. If you can help, even a little, it will be much appreciated.

Andrew “Wilce” Crocker is listed on Findagrave.com as being buried in Abbott Cemetery. He was my 2nd great grandfather. However, there’s no known marker for his grave. My Dad says there’s some question of where he’s actually buried. I came across this news article awhile back. So….I assume he’s buried in Abbott, we just don’t know exactly where.
