Today we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord.
Many people think the ascension means Jesus has left us, and with the tragedies of the last few weeks, we're sure many are feeling this more deeply. But this ascension is far from Jesus leaving us, rather it is Jesus empowering us with the Spirit so that we may do God's work with our own hands. We no longer need to gaze to heaven to look for Jesus, but we can find his presence in one another. Today especially, be the presence of Jesus for one another.

This past weekend the SE IA synod assembly gathered for worship, learning, networking, and synod business. Zion had a wide range of representation: synod council, synod staff, voting delegates, ministry partners, Zion staff, childcare staff, and additional Zion members. Lord, have mercy.

Gracious God, the news of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas has ripped our hearts and torn our souls. We are walking through the valley of the shadow of death. In the depths of pain and anger, we come before you, O God, our rock and our refuge. You are our only comfort. You are our only hope. Merciful God, you know the depth of our suffering. We have only begun to mourn those we have lost.

This Sunday during worship, in addition to special music and a baptism, we also recognize and pray for our soon-to-be HS Graduates! Sunday worship, 9:30am, in-person and livestream 🙏 🥳 Hope you can join us!

This past Sunday we celebrated the milestone of our 8th graders affirming their baptism! Thanks be to God for these incredible students!
