Spring is not boring at your friendly local synagogue. We are launching our next collection of Big Ideas Book Club books for the next months, are hosting a Learners’ Service, get togethers for our littlest members and of course our Urban Shavu’ot Retreat!

Trinity Episcipal and other local clergy (including our own Rabbi Esther) invite Iowa City to come together today (Monday, April 20) to lament this weekend’s violence on the Ped Mall and recommit ourselves to building the peace every person in our community deserves. The vigil will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church (320 East College St.). From there we will walk in unity to the Ped Mall. This event is being planned and organized by various area religious communities and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

About 70 people - including City Council members - joined us for a wonderful Peace & Justice Seder tonight! A big thank you to Hannah Sandler, Barney Sherman and Lisa Heineman for their incredible work, alongside our other volunteers.

We sang, we reflected, we ate, we connected - and built local relationships while supporting local charities that center the dignity of LGBTQ folks, Palestinian humanitarian work and immigrants.
