On Sunday, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders shared their Presentations of Learning and Reflection during the Embodied Baptism Celebration Dinner. These presentations represent a year of service and faith development grounded and centered in the baptismal covenant and guided by the student's parents/guardians and a mentor member of the congregation. Projects included item donations for local animal shelters, a comic book written specifically for patients at the Stead Family Children's Hospital at UIHC, a fund drive for winter clothing for immigrant and refugee families, handmade jewelry to benefit a local elementary school's fundraiser, a basket of small toys and gifts to benefit children whose loved one is in treatment for cancer, and a school supply drive to children in Africa.
At Gloria Dei, we believe our most vial role in the faith formation of children is to serve as a kind of incubator, where the exploration of living a life of faith is encouraged, supported, and celebrated. Congratulations to these incredible kids for their hard work, and faithfulness!
