What if recovery is bigger than we ever imagined?

This video is a quick recap of what our Celebrate Recovery leadership team had the privilege of attending this past week at the Celebrate Recovery Summit.

For 3½ days of intensive training, our team joined thousands of pastors, ministry leaders, volunteers, and Celebrate Recovery leaders from around the world with one purpose—to learn, grow, and become better equipped to help people experience the healing and freedom found in Jesus Christ.

Our team didn’t go just to attend another conference.

They went to be equipped.

They went to be challenged.

They went to grow.

They went expecting God to stretch them and prepare them to better serve the people He is bringing to Iowa City Church and our community.

One of the biggest takeaways from Summit was this:

Celebrate Recovery isn’t just for addiction. It’s a Christ-centered discipleship ministry.

It’s for the person battling anxiety while everyone thinks they’re doing fine.

It’s for the marriage that’s quietly falling apart.

It’s for the person carrying shame from years ago.

It’s for those struggling with fear, anger, grief, control, people-pleasing, pride, unforgiveness, depression, or past hurts.

The truth is…

We all have hurts.
We all have habits.
We all have hang-ups.

And every one of us needs the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Our Celebrate Recovery leadership team came home encouraged, challenged, equipped, and filled with fresh vision. They returned with practical tools, renewed passion, and an even greater burden to help people experience the freedom that is found only in Jesus Christ.

We’re excited to begin putting into practice what God poured into our team during these 3½ days of intensive training, and we truly believe the best is yet to come.

The church should be the safest place for people to be honest about their brokenness, because it’s where the hope of Jesus is found.

That’s the culture we’re praying for.

That’s the culture we’re building.

And we believe God is just getting started.

At Iowa City Church, we believe no one should have to walk through life's struggles alone. Whether it's addiction, anxiety, grief, past hurts, relationship challenges, or other life issues, there is hope, healing, and freedom through Jesus Christ.
