We are two days away from our hundredth anniversary gathering on Saturday, September 12 from 5 to 7 PM. We will be in the church parking lot under the big tent. Music will be provided by Jeffrey Morgan/Pennies on the Rail. Food will be provided by United in Christ. We will hear words from Virginia King, former Pastor Michael Lynch, our district superintendent Tim Carter and Dr Marcia Martin. Please come and join us to celebrate God‘s goodness in these past 100 years of the Iowa city Church of the Nazarene .

The press citizen article in 1961 announced the new church in Towncrest Area. Pastor Keeney said in an annual report that the selling of the downtown church, finding this land and building this new church was all a miracle. It was built with lots of help from people in congregation. We are grateful for the vision and faith of the congregation in 1961. We are grateful for God's miracles in the history of the church.

The tent! We have been reminded that the tent was the beginning of our church in Iowa City. The tent was pitched on the corner of Sheridan and Rundall Street in 1925. Like many Nazarene churches, a revival was held in under that tent. In that revival, individuals came to faith in Jesus Christ, started a prayer group and organized into a church in 1926. The name of the charter members were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jahnke, George and Minnie Baines, Marie Brewer and Caroll Sherman. The first pastor was Lola B Carter. (I, Pastor Teresa love that the first pastor was a woman!) So it is fitting that we celebrate these 100 years under a tent. See you under the tent Sept. 12th and 13th.

Our plans are coming together for the weekend of Sept. 11th through the 13th. It is our annual welcome weekend and added this year, is the celebration of the church's 100th Anniversary. We will praising God for His faithfulness,Hhis grace and the hope we carry because of Him.

Please join us as we gather on Friday from 5 to 7:30mto celebrate the church's investment in the work of ICCompassion. Join us Saturday from 5 to 7 to gather for food, music and testimonies. Join us Sunday morning at 11 am for our praise service to celebrate his multiplication of the work of His church in these 100 years. Free meal afterwards.

We started under the tent and we will celebrate all weekend under the tent. Psalm 100 : For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

This is our remodeling that’s going on today. We are putting in a new epoxy floor in our sanctuary and our foyer. We are thankful for donations from two estates that made this possible. We are thankful to Whitetail Concrete Finishing, and to Ortiz services. We are excited for this new look in preparation for celebrating our hundredth anniversary the weekend of September 11 through the 13th. God is good.

In 1926, a small group of people organized the Iowa City Church of the Nazarene. On Sept 12th 2026, we are gathering to celebrate God's faithfulness and grace through these 100 years. We welcome all to join us for this celebration from 5 to 7 pm under the tent in the parking lot of Iowa City Church of the Nazarene at 1035 Wade St. Iowa City Iowa 52240. We give thanks for each person who has been apart of these 100 years!

Tomorrow, we will remember the life of Ruth Crow. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
