It is the last Sunday in May and temperatures are getting warmer.

Join us at 11am this morning for a sermon by Bro. Strawn.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

(Psalm 124) Today we study another Psalm of Ascent "The LORD is on our side." Join us at 11:00 am for worship and then the LORD's Supper

05/17/2026

We are starting a new series this Sunday. See you at 11 a.m.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

Beginning this Sunday we will begin examining a series of special passages from the Bible's Hymnal - Psalms. They are called the Psalms of Ascent because they were the songs the Hebrews would sing as they made their way "up to Jerusalem" to worship at the Temple. I hope to help us find some significant 21st century applications to these ancient pilgrim songs. This week we will examine Psalm 121, so take a minute to read through it, maybe even two or three times. I'm looking forward to seeing you with a smile on your face and your Bible in your hand,

Blessings,
Bro. David Strawn

Happy Mother’s Day to each of you. Hope you will join us at 11am for a great message from Bro. Strawn.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

This Sunday people all across our country will honor mothers, and we will do the same at Martins Prairie. Many of us no longer have our earthly mothers to honor. we all know that's a burden we must bear. However, I think God's word has some special admonition for us concerning mothers and I hope you will be able to be with us to hear what He has to say.

On a completely unrelated note, I will be doing a special Adult Bible Study, Monday - Thursday evenings, June 1-4 at First Baptist College Station as a part of Vacation Bible School. We will be "Shining a light" on episodes in the life of Jesus as recorded by Matthew. Each evening's session will be from 6:30-8:00. I hope you will consider joining us for the study.

Looking forward to seeing you with a smile on your face and your Bible in your hand.

Blessings,
Bro. David Strawn

We've had a good amount of rain, and now the sun's shining brighter than ever!

Hope to see each of you today at 11am.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

Well, the forecast calls for a cool, crisp, sunny Sunday morning. Just the perfect day to spring out of bed, have a yummy breakfast and gather at the church to worship with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

This week we will look at one of the less well known healing miracles of Jesus from Luke 13 and how others responded to it. Perhaps we can discover some ways the events will have a direct impact on our lives today.

Looking forward to seeing you all again with smiles on your faces and your Bibles in your hands.

Blessings,
Bro. David Strawn

It is fourth Sunday! Bring your bibles and appetite.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

This week we wrap up our examination of what Paul describes as the fruit of the Spirit. This week's attributes are faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This has been a fun examination of these virtues that Christ-Followers experience through the indwelling presence of God's Holy Spirit.

Oh, by the way, this is a fourth Sunday! Time for some yummy covered-dish treats in our Fellowship Hall following our worship time.

Pray for our brother Dick Bonds. He is continuing to struggle with serious health issues. Ask God to deliver him from the trauma he experiences every day.

Looking forward to seeing you with a smile on your face and your Bible in your hand.

Blessings,

Bro. David Strawn

Message from Bro. Strawn:

Sunday morning we will begin a new series of sermons based on Paul's description of the "Fruit of the Spirit" in Galatians 5:22-23. We will examine three of the aspects of the Fruit of the Spirit each week for the next three weeks. I hope you will be able to join us for all of them.

Thank you for your continuing prayers for us. We deeply appreciate all your support. We're looking forward to seeing all of you on Sunday morning with your Bible in your hand and a smile on your face.

Happy Easter, hope each of you and your family will join us at 11 a.m. to her the message from Bro. Strawn.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

Dear Friends, today we remember the horrible price that Jesus was willing to pay for our sin. The horrible anguish and pain that He endured just because He loved us so much. Like the words of the song says - He paid a debt he did not owe. It was my sin that sent Him to the cross.

John's gospel tells the story like this:

So he delivered him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek. So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but rather, ‘This man said, I am King of the Jews.’ ” Pilate answered, “What I have written I have written.” When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier; also his tunic. But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom, so they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be.” This was to fulfill the Scripture which says, “They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.” So the soldiers did these things, but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
When He said "It is finished" He was affirming that our sin debt had been paid in full. Nothing else was needed to provide for us a relationship with our heavenly Father.
Take some time today to reflect on how much Jesus loved you.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning as we celebrate His glorious resurrection.

Blessings,
Bro. David Strawn

Bro. Charles Woodward will bring the morning message today at 11 a.m. see you soon!

Message from Bro. Strawn:

I send this with a heavy heart. Kathy & I will not be able to worship with you on Palm Sunday morning as we had intended. Also we will postpone the observance of the Lord’s Supper for a few weeks. Guess what day it is?!?!

It’s Sunday, a day we all get together in fellowship and worship and to make this day even better, it’s fourth Sunday. Bring your bibles and an appetite.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

Our fourth Sunday is coming "early" this month -- the 22nd. It should be a glorious day to gather for worship and fellowship, so I hope you are already making plans to be there. We're wrapping up Paul's letter to the Galatians just in time to shift our focus to Palm Sunday and Easter.

I received a note from Dick Bond this morning. He is recovering at home from his surgery on Friday and is eager to join us for worship again, but it will probably be another week or two before he will be able to come. Please keep him an Yolanda in your prayers as he recovers and regains his strength.

Looking forward to seeing you with a smile on your face and your Bible in your hand.

Blessings,

Bro. David Strawn

It is a beautiful Sunday morning. Church services start at 11 a.m.

Message from Bro. Strawn:

Well, I washed the truck so I ought not be surprised, right? 🙂 I know you too are glad for the rain, but the weather people claim that Sunday morning will be bright and sunny. It may be a bit cooler than the past couple of days but ought to be a awesome day to worship with your brothers and sisters at Martins Prairie Baptist! We will continue our look at Paul's words of instruction and encouragement to the Galatian believers and discover how they apply to us today. I know we have had some un-wellness among us, but I have been praying for you every day this week that God will restore everyone's health and we can gather as His people in celebration and worship.

Looking forward to seeing you with a smile on your face and your Bible in your hand,

Bro. David Strawn
