May 24 - Rev. Langdon's sermon for this Pentecost Sunday is entitled: "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit...", based on Numbers 11:24-30; Psalm 104:24-34; Acts 2:1-21; and John 7:37-39. The service also may be viewed on Tabler's page (https://www.facebook.com/share/1SYCYDWvgM/).
THIS SUNDAY we celebrate the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon all the disciples gathered in a room in Jerusalem, and enabled them to speak the Good News of Jesus Christ in other languages. Jewish visitors from other countries heard the mighty works of God in Jesus as a result, and many began believing in Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah and Savior from that day forward. Pentecost is considered the unofficial birthday of the Christian Church.
PLEASE EXCUSE the temporary disruption of our bathroom facilities in the Fellowship/Sunday School Room due to renovation work by David E. Turner & Sons General Contractors. We do have one working bathroom. David received word from the Remediation Company that it will be approximately 2 weeks before they remove the asbestos at Tabler, then he is good to go with the renovation.
THE BUILDING FUND OFFERING will be received this Sunday during the service of worship.
A CONGREGATIONAL MEETING has been called by the Session for this Sunday, immediately after worship, to elect a Congregational Nominating Committee (CNC). Two congregation members are to be elected to join ruling elder Chester Hill, appointed by session, to form the committee. The CNC will then seek nominee(s) for ruling elder and a trustee . The CNC will present the nominee(s) at a second congregational meeting for election.
DURING THE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION HOUR at 11 a.m., the Rev. Dr. Brad Langdon will lead the final lesson on “Discipleship: the Ways of Jesus” entitled, “The fruits of discipleship” by John Burgess. Next Sunday, May 31, a new education series “Feasting on the Word” begins with the first lesson, “God the Creator.” All classes are held in the Fellowship/Sunday School Room.
NEXT SUNDAY, the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated during the 10 a.m. service of worship. Please prepare with prayer and reflection and acts of reconciliation as Christ is our peace.
