The Saddle

What did ministry look like in Minnesota more than 150 years ago?

One of the historical pieces on display at our 170th Anniversary celebration this Sunday will be a saddle connected to Fr. Felix Tissot, a 19th-century missionary priest who served Catholic communities throughout this area.
Long before priests could simply drive from parish to parish, missionary clergy traveled great distances to bring the Mass and sacraments to growing Catholic communities.

Along with the saddle, you’ll be able to see Fr. Tissot’s traveling Mass kit and other historic items while learning more about the beginnings of Catholic life in our area.
Join us Sunday at noon for music, history, memories and fellowship as we celebrate 170 years of St. Patrick’s!

Traveling Mass Kits

A little sneak peek at something special you’ll be able to see this Sunday!
As part of our 170th Anniversary Concert, St. Patrick’s will have several historic Catholic artifacts on display, including two 19th-century traveling Mass kits used by missionary priests.

One belonged to Msgr. Anatole Oster, who was ordained by Bishop Cretin in 1856 and served Catholic missions throughout the region for decades. The compact chalice even breaks down into three pieces so it could be carried from place to place.
We’ll also have a traveling Mass kit belonging to Fr. Felix Tissot, ordained in 1858, who served missions in Minnesota during the early years of our parish.

Come see these pieces of local Catholic history and celebrate 170 years of St. Patrick’s through music and stories!

ITEMS WE DO NOT ACCEPT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Baby equipment, infant/toddler car seats and/or booster seats, any electric appliances, lamps, Christmas lights or decorations with lights (electric or battery operated), large furniture, knives, scissors, ice skates, sporting equipment, shoes, clothing or anything rusted or in a visible state of disrepair.

Seeking Treasures from Our Parish’s Past
Our St. Patrick’s family is rich with stories, memories, and traditions that have been passed down through generations. To celebrate our deep roots, we are looking to gather artifacts, photographs, and cherished family stories from the "good old days" of our parish.
Have you been told a story that was passed down through the generations? Do you have an old photo from a First Communion celebration or a parish picnic? Perhaps you possess a small memento, or you remember a wonderful story about a past priest, a beloved faith formation teacher, or a long-ago community event?
We would be so honored if you would share these treasures with us! Whether it is a tangible item to be photographed or simply a memory you’d like to commit to paper, your contributions will help us weave together the beautiful tapestry of our shared history.
