In Jeremiah 45, God gives a difficult but honest message: the same God who builds also tears down. The same hands that plant can uproot. It’s not because He is cruel, but because He is sovereign. He sees the whole picture when we only see the small piece in front of us.
Many of us spend our lives asking God to build things—relationships, careers, ministries, dreams, and plans. Yet sometimes the very things He allowed to be built begin to come apart. When that happens, our first instinct is often to question His goodness. But Jeremiah reminds us that God’s work is bigger than our comfort.
The reality of living in a broken world is that there will be pain. There will be suffering. There will be seasons of groaning and loss. God never promises a life free from hardship. In fact, He tells His people there will be more difficulties ahead.
Yet woven into that hard truth is an incredible gift: we get to live this life knowing our Creator.
Even when things fall apart, God remains. Even when dreams change, God remains. Even when we walk through grief, disappointment, or uncertainty, we do not walk alone. The greatest blessing is not that everything stays together forever; it’s that the one who holds all things together is with us.
Jeremiah 45 reminds us that our hope is not found in what God builds for us, but in God Himself. The things of this world may come and go, but we have the privilege of knowing Him, trusting Him, and walking with Him through every season.
Jesus is putting this world back together and He ain’t quitting until He is done.
