The word “propitiation” means the act that satisfies God’s wrath over sin. Witness 1 John 4:10: “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for us our sins.” God, in love, solves the problem we created.

“Scripture Alone” means that the Bible is our highest and final authority about who God is, who we are, and what we are to believe, teach and confess. We believe that it is inerrant (contains no mistakes) and inspired (the Holy Spirit told the authors what to write down). We accept the authority of the Bible above all things. O Lord, grant us and Your whole Church on earth unity and harmony, that our life may be marked by worship, witness, prayer and service to those and outside of the household of faith. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Jesus Christ, true God and true man, is our Savior. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He came down from heaven, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died and rose again. This is how He atoned for the sins of all mankind for all time. Christ alone is the doer of our salvation. He alone has absolved us of our sins. We honor, serve and obey Him as Lord and Savior. Faith is not created by us. The Holy Spirit creates faith in our hearts. He teaches us His Law (everything God commands to do and not do) and His Gospel (Jesus Christ crucified for the forgiveness of our sins). The faith that God demands of us He gives to us. We are saved by the faith He gives us, and not by our own works or anything we do. We confess Faith Alone, as we live by faith in God’s truth or we do not live at all.
