Real Community Church of God: Flooding Response Update

Hello Ingalls Community my heart is heavy for our community and so many who have been displaced and devasted by this flooding. While thankfully, Ingalls is mostly spared, much of our neighboring communities are under water.
I spent a large portion of yesterday, wondering WHAT we could do. I laid awake during the storm last night listening as things went from bad to worse for those in the flood paths. For a ministry like ours, we aren't equipped to have the perfect solution to this problem, but never the less I do want us to be a part of the solution.

I want our response to be three-fold.

1. Prayer: spend some time in prayer for those impacted today and over the coming weeks. Pray for speedy remediation and favorable resources. Pray for wisdom and discernment for our leaders and protection for volunteers and first responders.

2. Tangible Needs: TODAY: at 11:30am in the Alley room of our church we will be making sandwiches and packing blessing bags to distribute to those affected. Anyone is welcome to join us in this effort.

SUNDAY: Sock offering, bring packages of new unopened socks of all sizes to the church and we will donate these items.

3. Flexibility: I want our church both as individuals and corporately to remain flexible and poised to respond to needs as they become available. This is a time for neighbors to help neighbors.

I love our community and our church, thank you in advance for your acts of care and generosity.

We are excited to announce that Tyler Haley will be teaching our 4th grade students from Maple Ridge Elementary!

Tyler’s is passionate about helping others encounter the same hope he has found in Jesus. His ministry is driven by the words of the Great Commission and a desire to make disciples by faithfully teaching God's Word, building authentic relationships, and equipping believers to live out their faith.

For more than a decade, Tyler has served in pastoral ministry after several years ministering to youth and young adults. In 2023, he had the privilege of returning to his home church, Real Community Church of God in Ingalls, to serve as Lead Pastor.

Before entering full-time ministry, Tyler spent 15 years serving adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. That experience continues to shape his heart. Tyler also has a passion for global missions and has traveled to Ecuador nearly every year since the age of 17, sharing the Gospel with communities from the Andes Mountains to the Amazon Rainforest. He graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 2008 and earned his bachelor's degree from Lee University.

Today marks a significant moment. This stand was constructed over 2 years ago by the students at Frankton Highschool. Back then, we knew we wanted to plant a garden and give away the harvest. Perhaps we put the cart before the horse, but today we were finally able to stock the veggie stand with produce from our community garden. It speaks to the missional heart of our church - we want to be a resource to this community. We unequivocally want to meet spiritual needs but also help with practical needs where we can. The heart of this garden is to contribute in the fight against food scarcity but also to act as a social connector for the Ingalls Community.

Before we tilled the soil, planted the seed, weeded, and watered;
We built the stand to bless whoever may need our harvest.

We are Creating Community to Build His Kingdom.

We got a harvest of corn! We will be setting this out on the veggie stand at the church with some cucumbers tomorrow, Thursday, August 6th.
