Today at Indianola First Methodist Church, we celebrated the baptism of Crawford Thomas Carithers, son of Drew and Brantley Carithers.

In this sacrament of baptism, we recognize the grace of God at work in Crawfordโ€™s life. Through the waters of baptism, Crawford has been welcomed into the family of faith. We, as his church family, have committed to support him in his life of faith.

Tomorrow, we will continue talking about how we can be a part of that work through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. God is still calling His church to make disciples, spread scriptural holiness, and witness boldly wherever He has placed us.

This is what we believe. That we all need to be saved. That we all can be saved. That we all can know we are saved. And that through the grace of God and the work of the Holy Spirit, we all can be saved to the uttermost. From Pentecost to Aldersgate, from the birth of the Church to the transformation of our own hearts, the story of salvation is anchored in the grace of God. Grace that awakens us. Grace that saves us. Grace that continues making us holy.

Here are a few important updates for you to be aware of this summer. Help us pray over these things and consider taking part where you can.

From July 5 to August 2, we will only have one worship service each Sunday. That service will be in the Sanctuary at 10am.

Also from July 5 to August 2, we will have one combined adult Sunday school class starting at 9am. Childrenโ€™s activities and nursery will be available during this time.

August 9 will be a combined worship service at the Pavilion for Blessing of the Backpacks.

We will once again take a full six weeks off from social media from June 15 to July 20 for our Social Media Sabbath. We are inviting you to take part in it with us. We encourage you to delete your apps for those weeks and focus on the people around you.

In the U.S., we observe Memorial Day, which is a day of solemn remembrance of those who laid down their lives in service to this nation. As followers of Jesus, we honor their sacrifice, acknowledging the deep grief that endures in the hearts of families and friends, and give thanks for the costly gift of their service.

Today we invite you to pause in prayer: for comfort and hope for the bereaved, for healing for those still bearing wounds of war, and for Godโ€™s justice and peace to prevail throughout the world. ๐Ÿ™
