Abraham’s story is not one of perfect faith. It is the story of someone who, through years of waiting, failure, obedience, and seeing God remain faithful, learned that God could be trusted.

Genesis 22 brings that trust to a difficult question: Is there anything in my life I have decided God cannot have? Sometimes the things competing for our devotion are not bad things at all. They are good things we have made ultimate things.

God had proven His faithfulness to Abraham, and at the cross He has proven His faithfulness to us. The question is not only whether we believe in God, but whether we trust Him enough to obey Him.

Wednesday night at Indianola First Methodist Church is a night for the whole family.

What if “trust your heart” is actually terrible advice?

Scripture warns that the heart can deceive us, while Genesis tells us that God created our physical bodies and called his creation good. This Wednesday in For the Body, we’ll look at why our bodies are trustworthy gifts from God and why what God created matters for how we understand ourselves.

𝕄𝕀𝔻𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗘𝗞 begins at 5:15 PM in Bailey Hall.

This week’s supper: barbecue, buns, baked beans, slaw, potato salad, salad, chicken tenders, and cobbler or fruit dump cake.

Sign up for supper at indianolafirst.church/midweek.

The story of Noah is a lot more than the children’s story many of us remember. Genesis gives us a sobering picture of what sin does. It corrupts, destroys, and can leave us unaware of just how far we have gone.

But the story also points us toward God’s mercy. From the ark, to the waters of baptism, to the new covenant in Jesus Christ, God has made a way for us to be rescued from the ruin we cannot escape on our own.

Today at Indianola First Methodist Church, we celebrated Seth Holifield officially joining our church family and the baptism of Price Rodgers Holifield, son of Seth and Mary Rodgers Holifield.

In this sacrament of baptism, we recognize the grace of God at work in Price’s life. Through the waters of baptism, Price has been welcomed into the family of faith. We, as his church family, have committed to support him in his life of faith.

Welcome Price the next time you see him, and continue to pray for him to grow in grace!

Sunday morning is an important part of our life together, but our time with God doesn’t stop when we leave church. We want to be people who carry Scripture into all seven days of the week. We believe that God speaks to us through His Word, and those words will overflow into every part of our lives.

That is one of the main reasons we made a study guide and journal for our sermon series, The Great Cloud. It is one simple way to help make Scripture a daily part of your life. It has the Scripture for the upcoming Sundays so you can read ahead, along with space to take notes during the sermon.

Grab one this Sunday and spend some time in the Word with us this week.
