🌍💔 “She made all the nations drink her dark doctrine.”

(A reflection from Revelation)

There is a spirit at work in the world, subtle, seductive, and deadly. Scripture calls her Babylon, the great deceiver. Her doctrine is not written in holy ink, but etched in pride, power, greed, and corruption.

“She made all the nations drink the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Revelation 14:8

She offers comfort without truth.
Freedom without holiness.
Identity without the cross.

The world drinks deeply, intoxicated by lies dressed as light.

But we, as children of God, are called to discern the doctrine we drink. Not all that is popular is holy. Not all that is praised is pure.

The spirit of Babylon is still active today whispering that sin is love, that truth is hate, and that suffering has no purpose.

The Spirit of Christ speaks another word:

🕊 Come out from her, My people.
🕊 Do not be deceived by her glamour.
🕊 Drink from the Living Water, not her
poisoned wine.

This is not a time to compromise.
This is a time to stand firm, even if we stand alone.

Because while Babylon’s kingdom will fall, the Kingdom of God remains unshakable.

đź’§ Drink from the well that never runs dry.
đź’§ Cling to the Word that never changes.
đź’§ Follow the Shepherd, not the crowd.

Let us not be found sipping darkness when the light returns.

Compassion is the emotional response to the suffering of others that motivates a desire to help. It involves feeling empathy for someone in distress and wanting to alleviate their pain or hardship. Compassion goes beyond just feeling sympathy—it leads to action or support, whether that be through kindness, offering assistance, or showing understanding.

In a broader sense, compassion encompasses both emotional and practical responses to another person’s suffering. It’s about recognizing someone else’s struggles and taking steps, big or small, to make their situation better. Compassion is often tied to qualities like empathy, kindness, and love, and is considered a core value in many religious and philosophical traditions.

There has been a lot going on in the world today and a lot of it is not good. I have noticed that compassion seems to be missing in society. It’s missing and the absence of compassion seems to be supported by many. So I was wondering if
compassion was a spiritual gift. If it is a spiritual gift then that would explain why many are bankrupt when it comes to showing conpassion to others. So I looked to the Bible to see if compassion was listed in the Bible as spiritual gift?

The Bible does not specifically mention a “gift of compassion” as one of the spiritual gifts. However, compassion is a significant theme in Scripture, and it is often described as a characteristic that believers should exhibit, reflecting God’s love and mercy.

For example, in Colossians 3:12, Paul writes:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

While compassion itself is not listed as a distinct spiritual gift like wisdom, prophecy, or healing (which are detailed in 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12), it is a virtue that aligns with the nature of Christ and is considered essential for Christian living. It is encouraged in numerous parts of the Bible, such as in Ephesians 4:32, where believers are instructed to be “kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Compassion can also be seen in the actions of Jesus throughout the Gospels, where He frequently shows compassion for the sick, the poor, and the marginalized (for example, in Matthew 9:36 and Mark 1:41). Thus, while it’s not listed as a specific spiritual gift, compassion is a fundamental characteristic that followers of Christ are encouraged to embody.

I pray that people worldwide would elect to make moves and decisions whereby compassion is foundational and selfishness is minimized at the least and totally cast down at best.

“The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD. And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of his discipline: Let them sit alone in silence beneath the LORD’s demands. Let them lie face down in the dust, for there may be hope at last. Let them turn the other cheek to those who strike them and accept the insults of their enemies. For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love. For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.”
Lamentations 3:22-33 NLT

Sometimes it’s easier to judge than to love. Choose love no matter what and let God handle the rest.

“Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!”

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven. Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. ”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:37-38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I’m leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels. This isn’t, you realize, pie in the sky by and by. Some who have taken their stand right here are going to see it happen, see with their own eyes the kingdom of God.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:23-27‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Why is it important to know how much God loves you? It’s important because without knowing how deep and wide that love is, you don’t have the foundation or capacity required to receive any love. Not even love for yourself or love from or for others. Always remember that no matter how it looks, God loves you and he’s working all things out for your good. Peace and blessings.
