Update on The Big Weekend at ICH and What’s Next
Klezmer Shabbat went very well to an enthusiastic crowd despite your fellow bhood members having a few mishaps. Ken Gould set his cymbal a little too far away and fell off his seat reaching for it during one enthusiastic number. The tenor sax player to die for (or from) was able to play his solo despite Ken Finkel knocking over his saxophone, and then kicking it. Ken explained it was an accident and in no way reflected my sucking on a lemon while he was playing his trumpet. David Finkel’s comment was something to the effect that we’re all just a bunch of bhoodlums! The choir, Indy Chai, and cantor were terrific (and professional).
We baked and served over 1300 latkes today for RS and any other organizations in the building! That includes the consecration class, where we supplied 320 latkes which were entirely eaten at the reception. A Mazel Tov to the proud parents. My system of come in for a shift worked pretty well. There was always someone fresh coming in each hour.
Which is the segway for my next subject, this Saturday, Dec. 20th, starting at 5 PM to I don’t know how long maybe 7 PM?, Bhood will bake and serve the latkes for the IHC Hanukkah Party. We are not the main food; each family has been asked to bring their own dinner and menorah. We are the side dish of traditional latkes. If you are Sephardic, my apologies we’re just not up to frying the doughnuts yet.
I will try to make up a schedule once I know more. You don’t have to stay for the whole time; an hour’s help is greatly appreciated. So please mark your calendars for the 20th.
The Second Sunday Concert at 2 PM today went very well. It was great to see the cantor singing in a different genre along with the living history of Jimmie Guildford. Remember part of your bhood dues goes towards supporting this top notch musical endeavor, the Second Sunday Music Series.
I’ll end with; the 2015 bhood membership application should be in the mail this week. It comes with the sisterhood application. Even if you feel you can’t participate (in bhood), your dues are a big part of our operating budget to do so many good things for IHC.
On that note, peace out!
