United Eid Indy Covid 19 Safe Eid al Fitr Celebration 2020. History will remember the sacrifices we all made during the celebration and the eitire month. May He Aswajal bless us for our efforts. Thanks to all who helped to make this Eid celebration a success.

The United Eid Committee wishes to thank everyone that participated in the 2020 Eid al-Fitr celebration in Indianapolis, IN. We, like Muslim communities across America, found new ways to celebrate this Eid al-Fitr in a way that kept that sought to keep the community safe from Covid-19. The holiday came after Ramadan, a month-long observance of fasting from dawn to sunset. This holiday traditionally brings thousands of families and friends together for large and intimate gatherings. This year, after taking into account recommendations from the Marion County Public Health Department and Centers for Disease Control, Masjid Al Fajr and Masjid Al Mumneen joined together in asking community members to make the traditional Eid prayer safely at home. We all tuned into an inspiring “Zoom” Khutba by Imam Ahmed Alamin, who himself is recovering from a Covid-19 infection. The Khutba was followed by a drive-through celebration at Masjid Al Fajr where goodie bags were handed out to children. We always make special efforts to help children build fond memories. It is an occasion intended for enjoyment, forgiveness, and feasting. Jazakum Allahu Khair to everyone who supported the effort in action or spirit. We look forward to seeing you at the next Eid event.
