CONVERSIONS IN ACTS: SENDING OF THE APOSTLES
Acts 1:1-10
A few days after receiving The Great Commission from Jesus Christ to go into all the world preaching the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20 and Mark 16:15-16), the apostles did just that starting in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2), fifty days after the Passover and the resurrection of Jesus. On that day 3,000 plus people accepted the gospel message and were baptized into Christ, giving birth to the church of Jesus Christ.
Luke recorded how the apostles and other disciples carried out The Great Commission of Christ in his history book known as The Acts of the Apostles. In the Book of Acts, we see how the church started in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost and continued to spread throughout Judea and the known world multiplying exponentially with more and more people submitting their lives to Christ in baptism being “added to their number [the church] daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47).
This summer we will be studying from the Book of Acts the CONVERSIONS of those who heard and accepted the gospel of Christ as proclaimed by the apostles of Jesus and were baptized into Him. We will see the uniqueness of each conversion story in Acts as well as the similarities. Luke records how the apostles carried out The Great Commission of their Lord despite strong opposition from both the Jewish religious leaders and the governments of Israel and Rome.
Come join us this Sunday as we begin this study with the SENDING OF THE APOSTLES by Jesus just before His ascension to the Father.
