He Knows Your Name

He Knows Your Name He Knows Your Name Ministry exists to honor every child of God with a name in life and dignity and honor in death. Linda is a sought-after speaker.

Linda is the founder of He Knows Your Name, a ministry that gives children a name in life and dignity and honor in death. Linda also partners with mothers who do not want their children’s legacies to be the circumstances of their death. Her aim is to assist the grieving to find healing in loss and purpose in knowing every life is sacred to God. She has been interviewed regularly in local and regio

nal media. Linda has had several international media interviews. Linda is married to Steve her high school sweetheart. They live in Indiana where they raised their four children. Linda is “Honey” to 3 grandchildren. The Birth of a Ministry:
He Knows Your Name was birthed in October of 2009 when the body of a newborn baby, dressed only in a diaper, was discovered in downtown Indianapolis. Three thoughts rang through my head:

A dumpster is NOT a grave! A diaper is NOT a burial gown! And Doe is NOT a name! Sadly it is a fact that, even with the Safe Haven law, babies are still abandoned, buried in nameless graves, with no headstone to mark either their deaths or – more importantly – their lives. He Knows Your Name Ministry strives to ensure that every child receives a name in life and dignity and honor in death.

Our Abigail.

Her story is a hard, beautiful, and unique story adoption.

On a chilly day in February over 6 years ago, I received a call from an adoption lawyer that led to the adoption of a beautiful baby girl, our Abigail.

We baptized this daughter of the King and dressed her in white. We called her by name and told her she was beautiful & loved, over & over. It was Holy. Holding Abigail in my arms as she breathed her last was the best gift I could give her. She was not only not alone, she was given everything she deserved in her short life. Honor. I miss her everyday.

This month was our Annual Laying to Rest of Unclaimed Decedents Ceremony with the Marion County Coroners Office. We gathered at Flanner and Buchanan Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
The ceremony honored 20 unclaimed adults who had remained in the care of the Marion County Coroner’s Office since 2024, and one individual who came through the Ohio VOA. Community members, elected officials, ministry representatives, and MCCO staff gathered in reflection and remembrance to ensure each individual was laid to rest with dignity and respect.

A special highlight of the ceremony included Coroner McGinty receiving He Knows Your Name’s inaugural “Footprint Award.” The award recognized McGinty’s leadership, compassion, and dedication to ensuring unclaimed individuals are treated with dignity and care. The presentation underscored the strong partnership between MCCO and HKYN and their shared dedication to honoring lives that might otherwise be forgotten.

Since 2022, MCCO and HKYN have partnered to lay to rest 355 unclaimed adults in Marion County. This year marked the fifth collaborative ceremony between the organizations.

6 years ago, today, we posthumously adopted our Abigail.💕

We knew our Abigail in LIFE. 6 years ago, with all the paperwork signed and we had a ZOOM hearing with the Judge and Kirsh & Kirsh to finalize giving our last name to Abigail.

Her birth and death certificate have our name. Her headstone has our name. She is our 5th child. God continues to surprise us with His calling on our lives. Being light in a dark place for an unnamed orphan in the NICU at Riley Children’s Hospital and bringing grace to the injustice of Abigail’s critical health was not on our grid. But God. He always has a plan to rescue His children. He called. We answered.

Together we entered into an injustice and made it right. Being apart of her redemption story has been a gift to us. Abigail is a part of the fabric of our relationships now. My heart is full and I miss her.

You can find Abigail’s story in my Instagram bio and Facebook comments.

I went to the cemetery today, and they were giving out flags for Memorial Day. I placed them by the 8 monuments that mark the names of the first 173 unclaimed adults were laid to rest alongside the Marion County Coroner’s Office in 2022. And I placed one by the marker where 27 unclaimed individuals were laid to rest from Indian Funeral Care in 2025.

All of these monuments are circled around the beautiful ‘Doves in Flight,’ sculpture by artist Arlon Bayliss atop the ossuary. I love the shadows this sculpture casts on each name. 🕊️

The whole Cemetery is covered with flags it represents how many people have visited here today and it’s so beautiful. 🇺🇸

Honor. 🇺🇸
It’s what Memorial Day is about.
Remembering.
Reading a name.
Looking into the face of loss even though it is painful.
Never forgetting.
Fallen service men and women have given their lives.
Because of their sacrifice and service, we can be free.
